  • Nice when newer, BUT... - 1996 Chrysler LHS

Like anything else on wheels, problems start cropping up when the years add on...Bought mine used at just under 130K...At that time, everything worked, except the air conditioner, which the lack of, really has an overall effect on a full-time automatic climate system...Heat will come on in the middle of a hot summer day, and will take its grandiose time to do its job come the winter...With these cars, servicing/replacing the A/C is a MUST, and that can get expensive...That done (expensive job), everything was fine until about the 176K mark, then it was just one thing after another, (stabilizer, cvs, brake lines, rotors)...Then the engine had some major issues, and it was time to junk it...

  • Some problems but overall good - 1996 Chrysler LHS

This car has been a good car. I have 168,000 miles on it so far. Ive had to replace the transmission twice. Tranny seems to only last about 50,000 miles or so. Thats been the only major problem so far. Although bushings seem to be inferior quality.

For the most part a good car with some reliability problems. Smooth ride with a cavernous interior and trunk. Decent handling at speed and in the parking lot. Small rear window can make backing up a challenge. Reliability problems started at 60K miles. Have had to replace water pump, air conditioner, steering rack, undercarriage bushings, cruise control and tie rods. Performance and mileage seem to be keeping up. Still getting 22-24 MPG around town, and 27-30 on the road.

Had 93 Intrepid, LHS is smooth luxury, great styling curves, massive rear room All the buttons! Great gas mileage! 22/30. Tie Rods replaced AT 57k? cooling problems? FM quit at 60K. Appears to be Ltd. production 94-97. Overall a great car. After 7.5 yrs. can I wear it out? Bought 2nd 35K LHS original one owner for wife,$21000 ,discount over original purchase. A value? More later, Steve

  • Good Car... Not so good reliability - 1996 Chrysler LHS

Good car. I like the Infinity Stereo System. Great space on the back seat. Some problems with the engine and front suspension. On reverse it sound and feels a strong knock o hit on the engine. On trips is very good and spacious. The trunk is huge. Great car mileage, better that some small cars. The large size refelcts on a great interior size but on heavy traffic is difficult to move from lane to lane. It is handy and a bit sporty.

Smooth to drive, until the front suspension wears out: needing ball joints, struts, and Bushings.

  • Great road car - 1996 Chrysler LHS

This car is extremely comfortable and is easy on the gas ... for a large car OR a smaller car. I put a ton of miles on this over the road, and I couldnt be happier with a vehicle. Will definitely look at another Chrysler.

  • Big Car, Big Features, Big Bills! - 1996 Chrysler LHS
    By -

Bought the car with 62000 miles on it. I now have 131000 and counting. Had an oxygen sensor replaced, the moon roof leaks and a lot of problems with the suspension and tires. I dont like the climate control feature. I also had to replace a sensor under the dashboard to get the A/C to work correctly. Overall, a great car for long trips. Comfortable ride and plenty of room. I have the CD and cassette and everything on the dashboard is easy to reach. Enough room to where my kids wont fight. I would buy another because of the room and great ride.
