  • Run from 2.7 engine - 2000 Chrysler Concorde

Great car until 2.7 Liter engine goes without notice, the $6500 repair for vehicle with low mileage. Chrysler will not help with major engine design problem.

  • Engine Failure - 2000 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

I purchased this vehicle new in December 2000. The car performed well until Feruary of 2005 when at 98,000 miles, the motor began making a noise and the oil light came on. Diagnostic tests revealed that the engine was destroyed due to oil starvation from oil sludge. The vehicle would require a replacement of the 2.7 liter engine. Faced with this option I decided to replace the car. Research over the past few weeks has revealed that the Chrysler 2.7 liter engine appears to have many problems. I would seriously recommend that anyone purchasing this vehicle type with tis motor, perform a in-depth check of the engine.

  • 2.7 will fail - 2000 Chrysler Concorde

We bought this car new and we loved it. The first 120,000 miles we had no problems at all. Then the door locks started to make a bad noise when you use them. Then the engine blew. We have found out that about 2/3 of all the 2.7L engines have blown and there might be a class action suite against Chrysler. If you do get a Concorde DO NOT get the 2.7L engine. I know of engines failing anywhere from 15,000 on up. We have had a few Chrysler vehicles in the past but I will never buy another one again, it is a shame because I have a relative who works for them.

  • Expensive to maintain - 1997 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

Got a great deal on this car, but all of the repairs have cost me. In 4 years of ownership I have put nearly $6000 into this car, not counting stuff like tires and brakes. AC wont hold a charge for more than 6 months, but no one can find a leak. Various suspension problems totaling $3000. ABS and traction control failed, while the CD player frequently doesnt work. Driving experience is what you would expect from a large American sedan. Good on the highway, lousy most everywhere else.

  • A car to avoid - 1996 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

This car has been the most unreliable vehicle I ever purchased. Weve repaired the A/C 5 times, its gotten new heads, p/s pumps (3), water pumps (3), and a host of assorted items that my mechanic (Ive confirmed 80% of his diagnoses with the dealer) claims he never sees on other cars. Oh, replacing windshield wipers - $150 because the motor and wipers are hard connected.

  • NEVER AGAIN!!! - 1999 Chrysler Concorde

We bought the car on 02/03/2003 on 2/14/03 the center brake light (in the back window) stopped working it took them to replace it entirely 02/07/03 Driver side window slow going up they lubed it said it would work 02/14/03 driver side window clicking noise when going down, upon inspection found excessive body flex (whatever that is) 03/06/03 driver side window stops half way upon inspection the window regulator cable was snapped replaced regulator and cable .now 04/2004 the windows are still broken and the transmission is going! DONT BUY THIS CAR

Dont buy this car. Mechanically unsound. Despite religous oil changes, bottom end traumatic failure at ~80000. Transmission rebuild at ~90000. A/C evaporator failed after extended warranty expired. No factory help. Blown head gasket at 167000. Several water pumps. Needed rotors every 17000 until we found NAPAs thick rotors. Front rack only good for ~80,000. Tie rod ends only good for ~90000. Car gets decent milage for a larger sedan. Pick-up so-so. Maneuvers well for its size, and drives and handles like a smaller car.
