  • Expensive to maintain - 1997 Chrysler Concorde

Got a great deal on this car, but all of the repairs have cost me. In 4 years of ownership I have put nearly $6000 into this car, not counting stuff like tires and brakes. AC wont hold a charge for more than 6 months, but no one can find a leak. Various suspension problems totaling $3000. ABS and traction control failed, while the CD player frequently doesnt work. Driving experience is what you would expect from a large American sedan. Good on the highway, lousy most everywhere else.

After upgrading from an 89 Olds Ciera, this feels like the epitomy of luxury. The leather bench is a little slick during tight corners, but the suspension and steering are tight and responsive. The 3.3 is more than sufficient for highway and rural roads alike. The A/C will freeze you and the heater makes an oven out of the huge interior space. The computer reports over 31 mpg on highway trips and averages to 24.3 for day-to-day driving. The tranny keeps me concerned, but only b/c of other ppls stories, Ive had no trouble with it.

I drive 100 miles round trip to work and back and this car has been a savior. It is as comfortable to drive as it is to ride in. Trunk space is perfect for those long weekend trips with the family. A great family car that has some "Sport" to it!

  • This was a nice car - 1993 Chrysler Concorde

Just traded this in on a new Infiniti I35. Bought it in 1998 with 85,000 miles on it - trraded in with 143,000. This car has been a pleasure to own - had all options and the 3.5 L engine. Never had any trouble that one would not expect, except the air quit working about 3 years ago (I rarely used it any way). Cruise all day 75 mph and get 27+mpg doing it! Mpg not so good arounf town (17). Surprisingly nimple, great pick up, very comfortable, nice styling. Nver had any serious mechanical problems did have to replace a water pump and the automatic antenna. Did have some rust...but all in all, this was an excellent value.

  • Just a couple of issues - 2004 Chrysler Concorde

I really do love my car. It is the nicest Ive ever owned. Dusty roads seem to be my biggest problem. Already had the seals replaced, didnt work. Until this problem is resolved, I get dusted out. Had a problem with my cigerette lighter also. Keeps falling out of the dash. Wires and all. Had it fixed, did it again. Going back to the dealership. There is a burning smell, sort of like lighting a match that is present just after high exceleration, like passing. Had the dealer look at it, didnt get noticed. Still doing it, will get it looked at again. Anyone with the same concerns?

  • My door lock actuator also - 2000 Chrysler Concorde

I love this car. It is fun to drive and very comfortable. It has been a reliable car too that I would recommend to anyone. I, however, have also had door lock actuators go bad. Two of them sometimes choose to not unlock.

Problems with suspension began at 35000 miles and continued. Also, Chrysler disc brakes pitted requiring pre-mature replacement. Chrysler tie-rods are of poor quality. Engine/transmission trouble free at 135,000 miles and body is perfect.

I bought this car after rolling into the dealership in a car that wouldnt move anymore. Overall, I have been very pleased with the car. I have had no mechanical problems with it so far (knock on wood), and it is truly a luxury car for the person who doesnt want to pay for a luxury car.
