  • Great, up to a point - 1998 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

I got this car a year ago from my grandfather, and it had 183,000 miles on it then. It had been well- maintained, but over the past year its needed a new starter, a new battery, a new timing belt kit, a new water pump, and a new serpentine belt. It also developed a weird problem where, after stopping and starting several times in succession (as in running errands) it wouldnt start for awhile, and no one could ever diagnose what that was. The car now has 198,000 miles on it and Im done sinking money into it - Im getting rid of it! However, this car performed great for a long time and took a lot of abuse well.

  • Decent Car for the money - 1998 Chrysler Concorde

I bought my LXi wrecked with 29000 miles and rebuilt it. It now has 86000 and still runs great. At 10 years old, its showing its age. Comments: The 3.2 is a great engine. Could (and does)go to 150,000 if cared for. The 2.7 is horrible. Stay away at all costs. I agree with other posters: Gas mileage is very good ~25-27mpg for a big car. Car is huge inside. Things wear out on this car like any other (battery, air cond, brakes, waterpumps, etc.). Has an issue with the automatic air conditioning display. The display will quit displaying the temp, but the buttons, and control still function normally. To me, not a huge deal.

  • Car broke down in 4 days of having - 1998 Chrysler Concorde

I have owned this car for 4 days and it broke down on me. I do think this is a great car if you buy it from a reliable source. I think this car already had this major problem, and the dealer was dishonest. I bought this car as-is, but under the understanding that the car was running fine and didnt have any major problems. The economy is at it worst and you have people out there taking advantage of people trying to fill their pockets while someone else is left in the cold. I feel so used and hadnt been able to sleep behide this.

  • 2.7 litre engine stinks on 98 Concorde - 1998 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

I loved my Concorde and would never have dreamed that 2 years after I purchased it and paid off a $9,000.00 dollar loan I wouldnt be driving it anymore. The engine blew unexpectedly. I have heard so many people now say that the 2.7 engine stinks and the car engine was not built correctly. I cant believe Chrysler has not opted to help the customer out and recall these cars because of this, I work hard for my money and now have to sink my money into another car. Do not buy a Chrysler Concorde with a 2.7 engine, they stink.

  • A true sports sedan - 1998 Chrysler Concorde

This car handles like a dream and corners like a true champ its ride is smooth and very soft

  • Please run away from this car! - 1998 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

In 2006, if youre looking at a used Concord or Intrepid with the 2.7 engine, run away very fast! The engine was totally mis-designed and the interior parts dont get enough oil to keep them lubricated. My Concord had 72,000 miles on it and it just up and died. $5000 to put a rebuilt engine in it! Unheard of at 72,000 miles. Again, dont walk - RUN!

  • Best car Ive ever owned - 1998 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

I hate to say goodbye to this great car, but after 8 years and 115,000 miles its time to trade. The ride is smooth and in the time Ive owned it, Ive had no major repairs. All Ive done is change the oil on schedule, new tires and brakes as needed and tuned it up on schedule. What a great value this car has been. I wish Chrysler had something similar to offer now. I dont care for the retro look of the 300.

  • 98 White Concorde - 1998 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

Purchased the car brand new in July of 1998, and have enjoyed it ever since. I have had some mechanical problems, with the most expensive being the failure of the #1 fuel injector. I also had the windshield washer pump fail, and the fan belt tension wheel needed replacing. The headlights yellowed very quickly. I was able to buff them out, but was surprised how bad they got. The rubber trim around the headlights was falling apart within the 2nd year of owning it. The tires that came with the car were the worst I ever owned. Interior problems consisted of the pass thru door on the backseat breaking, and the bench seat console lid broke and would not shut properly.

  • Lucky buy - 1998 Chrysler Concorde

We didnt have much money then. This car worked for us. Has been a great auto. Speed sensor went out twice in first year and dealer (other than selling dealer) was great. Even lent us another car. Other than normal wear items, have had to replace only 2 O2 sensors. Great mileage and power for size of car. Wind noise developed after 4 years and mechanic realigned driver window. Says thats common with these big Chryslers. Noise much lower. I think it was a bargain after 8 years and $22K we paid for it.

  • Beautiful ride - 1998 Chrysler Concorde
    By -

This car has been a joy. The interior spaciousness the massive trunk the beautiful exterior the tight handling... This car fit our familys needs to a T. Was it perfect? No. The engine whined a bit when pushed. There were a few minor electrical gremlins over the years. The door-mounted speakers were a bit tinny. We had Chrysler add sound-proofing under warranty. If we had paid $60,000 for this car, I might feel differently, but this car was worth every penny of its $25,000 purchase price, and then some. Cant tell you how many people, over the years, have commented on how beautiful the car is. Well be holding on to it for another two years, or so.
