  • Great car but quirky - 1999 Chrysler 300M

My 99 300M has been pretty good so far. Ive had my door window motor replaced and theres a distinct creaking in the front end, which goes away after the dealer lubes it but it returns within weeks. Ive had a lot of problems with front end shaking while braking from highway speeds and have had the brakes and rotors done with no change in the problem. I strongely suggest a nose bra for you highway drivers like me. I love the power and the upgraded stereo was worth the extra money. The gas mileage has been better than expected for a large car and Ive been averaging around 23mpg. I only run 93 octane as the engine knocks at 89 and 87.

Great looking vehicle, gets plenty of nods. I was filling up at a gas station and had someone pull in just to tell me they loved the car. Reliability and strange qwerks are a concern

  • Chryslers Flagship? - 1999 Chrysler 300M

The car was everything I wanted except reliable. At 76900 miles and 3 years of ownership I am disappointed in this cars reliability. Under warranty a) Drivers side window motor replaced 3 times. b)Remaining three window motors replaced twice for same reason. c) Speed sensor for the transmission replaced twice for failure. Out of warranty repairs: a)Speed sensor for transmission 3rd time. Lasted 30,000 miles this time. So not covered by Dealership standard 1 year or 12,000 mile warranty. b)fuel pump module due to failure. Did you know that it cost $300 just for this device. Labor and tax extra.

This is the first Chrysler that we have owned. I have enjoyed the car and it is very fun to drive. Handling is terrific and it will accelerate with the best of any brand. I really like the styling and it is a good compromise between four doors and performance.

  • 300M after 3 years - 1999 Chrysler 300M

OK, so Im ashamed to admit it but, I leased this car, and proceeded to put 70,000 miles on it in 3 years. The car has been in the shop twice, once for front stableizer, once for a speed sensor. Neither was a major deal, and I was told both are a common problem. Two issues with build quality: driver side door doesnt seal 100% so some wind noise, and engine makes tappit when first starting. Otherwise a very nice car, comfortable, stylish, poweful, and for the most part reliable.

  • Five place Porsche? - 1999 Chrysler 300M

Well...perhaps.If Porsche were to build a sports sedan,it might look like the 300M.Handles twisties well(but not like a 911 or Boxster,of course),great on the highway but wind/road noise more than it should be.Infiniti sound system takes the edge off of that.HP and torgue well balanced for this car,so plenty of power for passing and on ramps.Plenty of room in all seats and trunk..and just plain looks good from all angles.
