  • Loved it for years but now disappointed - 1999 Chrysler 300M

I used to love my 300M. What a great car at a good price. After 4 years and more than $8,000 in repairs Im done with Chrysler forever. My dealership and Chrysler corporate have been nothing short of terrible. I was set to put down a deposit on the new 300C Hemi, now Chrysler will never get another dime from me. After replacing the window motors, AC evaporator, transmission computer, starter motor, seat motors and numerous other parts Im broke and broken-hearted. I did not abuse this car, in fact I followed every maintenance interval and had the dealer service it every time.

  • TOO MUCH ROAD NOISE!! - 1999 Chrysler 300M

My 99 300M is a company car. I drive 700 to 900 miles a week. All in all its not a bad car. I have had no problems in the first 50,000 mi. I find the ride very hard. The seats too firm and far too much road noise. The sound system is great. Probably not the car I would buy if given the choice. But would not rule it out.

This is a beautiful car, but not only does it have too many mechanical issues, the dealership people hardly knew how to properly diagnose the problems. In the first 3 months of ownership wed spent over 3,000 on things that the warranty didnt cover. from the a/c going out, window motors, constant cooling system problems which eventually led to the engine having to be rebuilt, which took three days to properly diagnose. did i mention that chryler dealerships do not offer loaner vehicals? after finally getting the car right we had and accident which totaled the car out. blessing in disguise.

  • Would Not Buy Another One! - 1999 Chrysler 300M

I bought my 300M in Feb. 2002. I have replaced 2 window motors and am getting ready to replace one of the ones that I got fixed again. The speed sensor has gone out of the vehicle. The wheel weights had to be replaced because they were not the right ones for my tires and the air kept leaking out. The bearings in the front seem to be going out. The airconditioning went out and I have had it charged repeatedly. The dealership says the next step is to take the dash out to fix the problem. The lowest estimated cost for that is $900.00! What is appealing from the outside is a total nightmare once you get in it!

  • Love this car!!! - 1999 Chrysler 300M

I couldnt be happier with my 300M. I spent 6 months researching cars before I settled on this one, and Im glad I did. Styling is excellent. Standard features blow the competition out of the water. It handles great, and has plenty of power for passing at highway speeds. For those who wish for more torque and horsepower, all I can say is there is only so much you can do with a front wheel drive platform. Wait for the 300N in 2004 when they go to rear wheel drive and have the optional V8 Hemi engine.

Overall, am happy with this vehicle. It is easy to drive, performs well, and looks good. Things that bother me after 4 years with this vehicle include some of the materials used in the interior - some of the plastic around the window/lock switches and around the gear selector seems to be sticky, no matter what you use to clean them, so you get a dirty look in those areas. Also, I have a problem with half of the rear seat leather in that it is getting scaly feeling, even though I have the windows tinted and keep the vehicle inside most of the time. It is only the upper portion of one seat, so I dont think its related to maintenance on my part.

  • Great Until..... - 1999 Chrysler 300M

I had the car die on me twice in the first year and a half. Something to do with the main computer and the transmission. Covered under warrenty and I was good to go. Lots of compliments received since I got it. I am currently at 86,000 miles and the last six months has been one problem after another. Power stearing had to be replaced. Evaporator on the air conditioning had to be replaced. Just in the last few weeks the car died again. No warning lights, just lost power and died. Turned out there was a major malfunction in the engine due to low oil pressure and had to replace engine.

Nice vehicle that handles well and looks sharp. Fuel economy could be better but safety is also a concern

Purchased vehicle with 27k on it. Rotors had to be replaced immediately. Also had complete failure of power steering pump, which was replaced by dealer. More recently, the drivers window regulator failed. I paid for that out-of-pocket.

Choice of this loaded used car or a new Intrepid with limited toys... Had an intrepid.. loved it, but wanted something a little more plush. Glad i did. Have had no problems other than a dashboard crack, which was fixed under recall and a window motor went. That cost me 150 bucks. But car is solid after 65000 miles and looks great.
