The Chrysler 200 is a respectable choice for a midsize family sedan. The 200 also scores points for being one of the few midsize models to offer a convertible body style. There are many choices for a midsize sedan, however, and most continue to hold advantages in terms of fuel economy, interior room and reputations for reliability. Although it's hard to make a case for the Chrysler 200 sedan, the 200 convertible remains a good choice if you want an open-air driving experience and need seating for four.

Current Chrysler 200
The midsize Chrysler 200 is offered as a sedan and two-door convertible. The sedan comes in LX, Touring and Limited trim levels, while the convertible comes in Touring, Limited and S trims. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine generates 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque for LX and Touring models, while the Limited gets a 3.6-liter V6 making 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine also comes standard on the S trim convertible or optional on the Touring trims.

Putting the power to the front wheels is a six-speed automatic transmission.

The LX base model comes reasonably equipped with air-conditioning, keyless entry, full power accessories and cruise control. Touring models add nice-to-have extras like alloy wheels, automatic climate control, a power driver seat and a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio.

Limited and S convertibles get still more upscale touches including leather upholstery, heated front seats, Bluetooth and a premium audio system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen. A sunroof and a navigation system are optional, while an S package for Touring and Limited sedans includes 18-inch wheels, foglamps, black exterior trim and, for the Limited, leather-trimmed bucket seats.

For the 200 convertible, Chrysler offers the choice of a fabric or steel roof. The latter is more expensive and a bit heavier, but provides better security and noise reduction.

Inside, the 200 boasts a quiet and comfortable interior with an upscale look, with sleek styling and high-quality soft-touch materials. However, the sedan's backseat and trunk are a bit on the small side. Relative to other convertibles, however, the 200 convertible's backseat is actually pretty roomy.

On the road, the Chrysler 200 provides adequate acceleration with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, but fuel economy is below average. With 110 hp more than the four-cylinder, the 3.6-liter V6 is quite energetic, delivering strong acceleration without a tremendous sacrifice in fuel economy.

Used Chrysler 200 Models
The Chrysler 200 was new for 2011. There have been only minor changes since. If you're looking for a used 200, note that the LX sedan from 2011-'13 came standard with a four-speed automatic, with the six-speed auto being optional. Aim to get a 200 LX with the six-speed if you can.

Prior to this, the 200 was known as the Chrysler Sebrin.

  My 200C is only two months old but if it is as durable as my 2007 Sebring, it will be winner. I have all the electronic packages such as lane sensing, blind spot monitoring, back up camera, adaptive speed control, navigation, heated seats and heated steering wheel. I suggest every buyer select these options because the safety benefits are immeasurable. The transmission is so smooth you would think it is not there. The car is equipped with a four cylinder engine which provides adequate acceleration but outstanding gas mileage. Being 6 feet in height, I do not find headroom tight in the back seat. The body is rock solid and the interior comfort and interior materials used are of the best quality. What more could anybody ask for?

  Glad I rented this car first. I was thinking about getting one, but now there is no way. If you get one better get use to "Key Fob not Detected" The push button start is fine when and if it detects the key fob. The ride noisy and uncomfortable, acceleration is terrible it hesitates. I would never rent one again.

  heat on passengers side quit at 50,000 miles chrysler wont fix but will for $1000.00

  I love my Chrysler 200S with AWD! It has some great features such as blind spot monitoring and the panoramic sunroof! I am sad they are discontinuing them after 2017! I do not know why people give this car such harsh reviews because its a great car. The acceleration and its road manners make it a pleasure to drive. I love the Uconnect system it is the best in the business. The gas mileage has been great I get up to 40 MPG on the highway and usually around 28 MPG with mixed driving. My only warning is that the backseat headroom is not too great and I think its even worse with the panoramic sunroof option. I love this car so much! I hope you get to have a wonderful experience with it just like I do.

  Horrible car - 2015 Chrysler 200

  Bought the car with only 8000 miles. Has the car for a week and the transmission started acting up. Had to have a new transmission put in. Two weeks later started having the same problem. The repair shop has had my car more than I have. Called Chrysler resolution hopefully they will get me out of this vehicle and into something safer and more reliable.

  Wonderful car - 2016 Chrysler 200

  I looked for a mid sized car that was good looking in and out, had a strong engine, and most of all had all of the latest safety features. The 200 was it. In 2015 only Subaru had all the safety features in this price range but was no where near as nice a car. Once you have driven a car with brake assist, lane departure ,backup warnings, adaptive cruise control,etc, youll never feel as safe driving another. Beyond safety ,this car has a stunning interior. The trunk is hugh, but the back seat head room is tight like every car with fastback styling. Comfort and handling are excellent. it has every convenience you can think of ,heated steering wheel heated and cooled seats, remote start,lock etc either from the remote or the Internet....I cant remember them all. This car is a true bargin and a winner at any price.

  Very very nice care, handles well, just need a little more head room and a little more space in the backseat and it would be beyond perfect

  The acceleration is a bit slow and jerky but once its above 25mph it does great. The trunk is a grest v size and I am able to transport a full size string bass and full size cello at the same time (along with smaller instruments like violins, clarinets, trumpets and saxes! That was my biggest requirement. You have to duck a lot to get into the backnowledge seats and that is as an average height woman. Its fiber for kids, but tall teens might knock their heads! Overall, I love the carea, the features and its response to braking and steering

  I like the look of the new 200 which is what got me there. I wasnt looking for an expensive car, need met. The car drives "OK", handles, brakes, and features the same. The big problems with this thing is the computer/transmission relationship. IT SUCKS!!!!! This car doesnt know which gear it wants to be in and at its worse will just stop for a few seconds (when you need acceleration most) to think about it. Three times Ive nearly been in an accident as a result of pulling out hoping for a quick acceleration only to find out that this car would rather think about it. To that I have found a solution should you find yourself in a similar situation (until you can buy yourself out of this dysfunctional relationship). Ive been driving in "L" or low gear and while my gas milage has suffered a little, the power and acceleration are there when I need it, particularly in stop and go traffic or around town. (On the open highway, "D" works fine.) In low, the computer takes over far before "red line" so no need to worry about blowing ANYTHING and it shifts a if it had a "sport mode", which it doesnt. SOOOO, now I just hate the car rather than loathing it. Beyond that, given that its rated the worst car two years running the depreciation is horrific. I hope this helps.
