Overview & Reviews
Chevrolet sells an impressively wide range of vehicles, from subcompact hatchbacks to huge vans and SUVs. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vehicle, odds are that Chevy will have something to fit your needs.
Chevrolet got its start in 1911. After William C. Durant had been ousted from General Motors, he joined forces with Swiss-born racecar driver Louis Chevrolet to found the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. The company's first offering was the Classic Six. Introduced in 1912, this five-passenger touring sedan could top 65 mph, fast for the time. Chevrolet's storied bowtie logo -- reportedly inspired by the wallpaper of a Paris hotel room that Durant stayed at -- made its first appearance in 1914.
By 1918, Chevrolet's profitability allowed Durant to purchase enough shares in GM to regain control. Chevrolet became another division of GM, and was its largest volume division by the mid-1920s. By 1927, Chevrolet outsold rival Ford, with sales in excess of 1 million units.
In the mid-1930s Chevrolet introduced independent front suspension, which provided a smoother ride over the rough roads of the day. The 1940s saw continued success with affordable coupes, sedans and pickup trucks catering to American families, farmers and businessmen.
By the mid-1950s, Chevrolet, GM's entry-level division, had added a V8 engine, power steering and brakes, power windows and air-conditioning to its list of available features, allowing luxury for those on a tighter budget. Around this time the iconic Bel Air model -- available in coupe, sedan, convertible and wagon body styles -- proved very popular. The company introduced its alluring Corvette in 1953; the vehicle was the first mass-produced car with a fiberglass body.
The 1960s saw the unveiling of the popular, air-cooled Corvair compact, which held the distinction of being the first domestic production car with all-around independent suspension. That decade also witnessed the launch of the compact Nova, the midsize Chevelle and the sporty Camaro, the latter Chevrolet's answer to the wildly successful Ford Mustang. The Camaro proved an instant hit, comprising 10 percent of Chevrolet's total sales in 1967, its first year of production.
In the 1970s, Chevy responded to changing preferences by introducing small cars like the Vega and the Chevette, and by downsizing larger models such as the Caprice and Malibu. The company combated the market domination of foreign nameplates in the 1980s by rolling out the Cavalier. By the end of that decade, trucks and SUVs had started to become increasingly popular with the general consumer, and the brand's mid- and full-size models continue to this day to be some of the most popular on the road.
The '90s and the early 2000s saw the company raising the performance bar with its Corvette (notably the Z06 and, later, ZR1 variants) and reincarnated Impala SS. Chevrolet's Silverado pickup truck and Tahoe/Suburban SUVs continued to be hits as well. By 2010, the Camaro had returned to the lineup after a seven-year hiatus.
Modern times have seen Chevrolet make significant improvements in its small and midsize car models and introduce the Volt plug-in hybrid. The latter provides a nearly 40-mile range on electric power alone, and adds to the company's already well-rounded lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs. Though today's marketplace is very demanding, Chevrolet seems poised to remain a power player through its affordable and innovative vehicles.

Pre Purhcase Review - 2003 Chevrolet Impala
By macattak1 - September 27 - 10:00 amYet to purchase, however, I have noticed much on the numerous Imaplas I have looked at both new and used. Bad 1- Not painted anywhere you normally cant see. Gas cover, trunk and hood. Silly and CHEAP. View the Primer with every tank?! 2- Interior colors. Cream dash color too "pimp daddy" looking. 3- Honda Accord LX and EX at $21k and $24k v/s base and LS at $24 and $28k? OK. 1- Is the 3.4 as good as the 3.8 2- Offers 6 seating but only on 3.4. Good- 1- Great MPG on both. 2- Safty rating. 3- Fits 3 car seats in back. 4- Power 5- Limited # of options compared to Toyotas $19k base trying to wear $11k more in options!

2009 Sport Equinox - 2009 Chevrolet Equinox
By Mike - September 27 - 12:27 amWe looked at a lot of suvs and crossovers. We knew as soon as we drove the Equinox Sport that this was a great vehicle. Great Power and Handling. It can tow my boat, because it has a 3500 lb towing capacity. Has good gas mileage if you do not race around. The warranty is great. Equinox is fun to drive and very versatile.

A SSR FOR ME! - 2004 Chevrolet SSR
By The Vitter - September 26 - 9:56 pmI thought the truck was Bad when it first came out. The GM designers did their work on this one to create a unique ride. I almost bought a red 05 last year, but backed out. I started to look real hard for a clean one. I found one in my own backyard at Chase Chevrolet located in Stockton, Ca. I have driven the big engine and found that the small engine is just fine. I have owned many Chevy muscle cars in my day. Still im my geerage to this day are a stock 71 RS/Z28 350 LT-1 4 spd. A 67 Chevy II Nova with a 427/turbo 400 with 456 cogs. The black SSR i just bought is in pristine condition. I did not buy it for a hot rod, I bought it because it is a classy ride. The Heartbeat rides on

Fun, sporty ZQ8 - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By fatherof1 - September 26 - 9:34 pmI wasnt a big fan of crew cab Colorados (small bed), but having a baby forced me into one. However, I feel this is the best truck for me and have been won over! My Colorado has room for my family and just about anything else we need to haul. Right after purchasing we had some problems with the traction control. After 6 trips back to the dealer they finally found a wire that had the insulation rubbed thru which was causing the system to ground. This was very frustrating and worrisome at first but the truck has been fine since. The 220 hp 5 cyl and ZQ8 package gives this truck a very sporty feel and is fun to drive.

Very pleased - 2009 Chevrolet HHR
By sbecks - September 26 - 1:13 pmFive minutes into a test drive, I was hooked. Took a sharp dog leg corner at a considerable speed, and the HHR held to the road like a magnet. A little slow off the line, but will see if a chip helps. Day of purchase took a 200mi trip. Very pleasant to drive, and very peppy and nimble in traffic. City and hiway. Great fuel economy. Cruise set at 78 most of trip. Avg mpg was 26-27. That was with a little lead foot sport driving in city. Some road noise thru suspension but not unreasonable for size of vehicle. Slight wind noise but, again not unreasonable. I am very impressed with the sure footed feeling on wet roads.

Gas mileage is amazing, trunk opening is small.Interior is OK, what can you expect for the price,Fur. It is durable and should last. Im Happy and its made in the good old USA
