Make Overview:

Chevrolet sells an impressively wide range of vehicles, from subcompact hatchbacks to huge vans and SUVs. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vehicle, odds are that Chevy will have something to fit your needs.

Chevrolet got its start in 1911. After William C. Durant had been ousted from General Motors, he joined forces with Swiss-born racecar driver Louis Chevrolet to found the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. The company's first offering was the Classic Six. Introduced in 1912, this five-passenger touring sedan could top 65 mph, fast for the time. Chevrolet's storied bowtie logo -- reportedly inspired by the wallpaper of a Paris hotel room that Durant stayed at -- made its first appearance in 1914.

By 1918, Chevrolet's profitability allowed Durant to purchase enough shares in GM to regain control. Chevrolet became another division of GM, and was its largest volume division by the mid-1920s. By 1927, Chevrolet outsold rival Ford, with sales in excess of 1 million units.

In the mid-1930s Chevrolet introduced independent front suspension, which provided a smoother ride over the rough roads of the day. The 1940s saw continued success with affordable coupes, sedans and pickup trucks catering to American families, farmers and businessmen.

By the mid-1950s, Chevrolet, GM's entry-level division, had added a V8 engine, power steering and brakes, power windows and air-conditioning to its list of available features, allowing luxury for those on a tighter budget. Around this time the iconic Bel Air model -- available in coupe, sedan, convertible and wagon body styles -- proved very popular. The company introduced its alluring Corvette in 1953; the vehicle was the first mass-produced car with a fiberglass body.

The 1960s saw the unveiling of the popular, air-cooled Corvair compact, which held the distinction of being the first domestic production car with all-around independent suspension. That decade also witnessed the launch of the compact Nova, the midsize Chevelle and the sporty Camaro, the latter Chevrolet's answer to the wildly successful Ford Mustang. The Camaro proved an instant hit, comprising 10 percent of Chevrolet's total sales in 1967, its first year of production.

In the 1970s, Chevy responded to changing preferences by introducing small cars like the Vega and the Chevette, and by downsizing larger models such as the Caprice and Malibu. The company combated the market domination of foreign nameplates in the 1980s by rolling out the Cavalier. By the end of that decade, trucks and SUVs had started to become increasingly popular with the general consumer, and the brand's mid- and full-size models continue to this day to be some of the most popular on the road.

The '90s and the early 2000s saw the company raising the performance bar with its Corvette (notably the Z06 and, later, ZR1 variants) and reincarnated Impala SS. Chevrolet's Silverado pickup truck and Tahoe/Suburban SUVs continued to be hits as well. By 2010, the Camaro had returned to the lineup after a seven-year hiatus.

Modern times have seen Chevrolet make significant improvements in its small and midsize car models and introduce the Volt plug-in hybrid. The latter provides a nearly 40-mile range on electric power alone, and adds to the company's already well-rounded lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs. Though today's marketplace is very demanding, Chevrolet seems poised to remain a power player through its affordable and innovative vehicles.

  • Chevrolet Aveo 2013 model - 2013 Chevrolet Aveo

I bought this car 2 years ago, it was driven 80,000km already when i bought it, some sales person drove it very badly, i bought it and took it to a mechanic and asked him to fix all the things which are bad. specially engine mounts, lower arm rubbers, ball joints, plugs, plug wires and it was almost like a major service. i am driving it since 2 years, there was a time when i got a trouble with coil and need to replace it, which cause it a check engine light from the catalyst, since then i have no problem driving it. Ac is very nice, sound system is fair. economy is not a problem, breaks are little fussy but its still manageable. it is not very strong car but a nice small family car. over all my experience with Aveo is not bad.

  • GM only for us - 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 2500HD

Bought my 07 2500HD Duramax new in September of 06. Just rolled over 230,000 miles. I replaced the rear transfer case housing a little over a year ago because the pump had worn a spot in it. It has had an alternator, 1 CV shaft and a wheel bearing changed out. This truck has been used. I towed heavy trailers with used oilfield pipe on it the first 4 years I owned it and then drove it for about a year when I was contract pumping wells. Only reason I’m fixing to get rid of it is because I don’t need the heavy duty 3/4 ton truck anymore and they are offering me almost a 1/4 of what I gave for it on trade in. Truck has basically cost me 2000.00 a year to drive it these past 11 1/2 years.

  • Our 05 Trailblazer - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT

I see some of the complaints about the trailblazer...Mostly from people who bought them used...You never how they were broke in and taken care of..We bought ours new and took reasonable care of it over the years ...Best truck I ever owned!.and the 4 wheel drive is awesome.!.We have newer vehicles but I wouldnt trade the ole gal in with 256 thousand miles on it ..They wont give me anything for it anyway..a few issues for sure ..two fuel pumps two water pumps...struts,brakes stuff like that...IOur kids when they were young nicknamed it the fun mobile ..:) ...They are grown up now with there own lives....My point being ...We will just keep..her...she has a few little quirks but its 13 years old...and still dependable ...

  • 2013 captiva sport is awesome - 2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport
    By -

my 2013 captiva is smooth and quiet on the highway. It gets about 35 mpg it is comfortable and great for carrying cargo. The only issue is that the styling is getting very outdated, after all it is just a rebadged saturn vue. Overall I am very satisfied with the captiva.

  • 2001 Chevy Astro Van - 2001 Chevrolet Astro
    By -

Bought my 2001 Astro Van in 2017. It has 107,000 miles on it. Previous 2 owners were 70 years old so its in real good shape. Interior looks brand new. My plan is to travel with my Australian Shepard up the west coast. I bought a folding mattress and take the seats out so I can sleep in my Astro van. Hotels are like $100 a night now. I replaced the radiator, water pump and thermostat. Tune up (plugs, wires, distributor and rotor) and she seems to run fine. I am a fanatic about filters and oil changes and coolant levels so in the long run this van should last me many many miles. From now on it will never be a half quart low on oil... ever. Same with coolant. I love how you feel so high up in the drivers seat, you can see everything. I just took my van for a 250 mile trip and it travels fine. Very comfortable. I cant wait to get a nights sleep in the back. Sure is a lot of room. Hope my dog likes it.

  • Worst investment i ever made - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
    By -

this car is nothing but a money pit. it was a 2002 with 52,000 miles on it. cost me 5000 dollars. it was year 2006 when I bought it, and every single year that I had it it had problems. thermostat, the fan, the radiator, the fan that cools of the engine was broke it was ALWAYS overheating. Brakes went bad. transmission issues. you name the issue I had it with this car. I took very good care of my car but the car definitely wasnt taking care of me at all, it didnt return the favor. finally after the hose started leaking, and the head gasket was cracked I had had enough. in 2013 I sold the POS and have no regrets. I only got 950 for it but better then nothing. From the time I got this car in 2006 to the time I sold it in 2013 I spent more then 10,000 dollars to fix this car keep in mind I only paid 5000 for it. the only reason I kept it so long was because I couldnt afford a new car. After I sold it I got a Malibu. Never had a problem with that car. Cavaliers are bad news and the biggest crap machine ever. I put twice the amount of money I paid for the car to fix the car! not worth it. everytime a picture pops up showing the car I get mad cause it takes me back down to memory lane. From now on its only gonna be civics, corollas, Camrys, and malibus.

  • My first car - 2007 Chevrolet Aveo
    By -

So this car..what can i say about it. I bought it with 190,000kms on it in 2015 (in Canada we go by KMS). The lady who owned it before me took very good care of it, the interior was in mint condition. This vehicle is a piece of crap. Luckily I dont use the highway to commute to work.... because everytime I take this thing on the highway I do not feel safe. The car overheats and loses power after about 25-30 minutes of driving. I had to call a tow truck to come get me one time because it just felt like it would die on me at any moment. The interior design is also crap, the cupholder are right above the gearshift, so if you have a full coffee it will most likely spill all over your gearshift and your car. Beyond all the problems ive just stated, i have to admit i still rely on this car to take me to work everyday and thats really all its good for. I like that it is good on gas, probably take about 35-40$ to fill it up entirely. I would buy chevy again, just not the aveo.

  • I like my Sonic, BUT... - 2014 Chevrolet Sonic
    By -

I like my Sonic. I think it handles and drives well for a small car, ESPECIALLY from an American automaker. However, I have a major problem. The pedals are so close together that my foot gets stuck underneath the brake while on the gas, and I hit the brake sometimes trying to hit the gas. I should have taken heed when I noticed the tight fit when I bought it. However, I was wearing normal width shoes and they were not comfortable. Wide shoes are impossible. I am going to end up in an accident, and I cant do anything about it because the car also depreciates like toilet paper.
