Make Overview:

Chevrolet sells an impressively wide range of vehicles, from subcompact hatchbacks to huge vans and SUVs. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vehicle, odds are that Chevy will have something to fit your needs.

Chevrolet got its start in 1911. After William C. Durant had been ousted from General Motors, he joined forces with Swiss-born racecar driver Louis Chevrolet to found the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. The company's first offering was the Classic Six. Introduced in 1912, this five-passenger touring sedan could top 65 mph, fast for the time. Chevrolet's storied bowtie logo -- reportedly inspired by the wallpaper of a Paris hotel room that Durant stayed at -- made its first appearance in 1914.

By 1918, Chevrolet's profitability allowed Durant to purchase enough shares in GM to regain control. Chevrolet became another division of GM, and was its largest volume division by the mid-1920s. By 1927, Chevrolet outsold rival Ford, with sales in excess of 1 million units.

In the mid-1930s Chevrolet introduced independent front suspension, which provided a smoother ride over the rough roads of the day. The 1940s saw continued success with affordable coupes, sedans and pickup trucks catering to American families, farmers and businessmen.

By the mid-1950s, Chevrolet, GM's entry-level division, had added a V8 engine, power steering and brakes, power windows and air-conditioning to its list of available features, allowing luxury for those on a tighter budget. Around this time the iconic Bel Air model -- available in coupe, sedan, convertible and wagon body styles -- proved very popular. The company introduced its alluring Corvette in 1953; the vehicle was the first mass-produced car with a fiberglass body.

The 1960s saw the unveiling of the popular, air-cooled Corvair compact, which held the distinction of being the first domestic production car with all-around independent suspension. That decade also witnessed the launch of the compact Nova, the midsize Chevelle and the sporty Camaro, the latter Chevrolet's answer to the wildly successful Ford Mustang. The Camaro proved an instant hit, comprising 10 percent of Chevrolet's total sales in 1967, its first year of production.

In the 1970s, Chevy responded to changing preferences by introducing small cars like the Vega and the Chevette, and by downsizing larger models such as the Caprice and Malibu. The company combated the market domination of foreign nameplates in the 1980s by rolling out the Cavalier. By the end of that decade, trucks and SUVs had started to become increasingly popular with the general consumer, and the brand's mid- and full-size models continue to this day to be some of the most popular on the road.

The '90s and the early 2000s saw the company raising the performance bar with its Corvette (notably the Z06 and, later, ZR1 variants) and reincarnated Impala SS. Chevrolet's Silverado pickup truck and Tahoe/Suburban SUVs continued to be hits as well. By 2010, the Camaro had returned to the lineup after a seven-year hiatus.

Modern times have seen Chevrolet make significant improvements in its small and midsize car models and introduce the Volt plug-in hybrid. The latter provides a nearly 40-mile range on electric power alone, and adds to the company's already well-rounded lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs. Though today's marketplace is very demanding, Chevrolet seems poised to remain a power player through its affordable and innovative vehicles.

  • Awesome! - 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

My first SUV. This is by far the best SUV on the market. The DVD system in it is a blessing for any trip. The 6CD changer sounds incredible, even without Bose. Ride is excellent. More power than a Ford V8 Explorer, better room, and certainly better looking inside and out! Traded in a minivan for this and will NEVER go to a minivan again. People complain about the mileage, but what do you expect from a 275HP SUV? Comes with the territory... Great job Chevy!

  • Trailblazer EXT LT - 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I enjoy driving this truck but it still needs some overhauling. My doors stick and I was told by the dealership thats because theyre so well made. THEY STICK and I cant open them :) Comfort is there, extra features are there but for an SUV its a little pricey. Gas Mileage could be better, I run 11 to 12 around town and max 16 on the highway in the 6 cylinder. Standard wheels with the upscale packages are not pretty to look at. Overall a decent SUV but can use some improvement

  • Chevy all the way - 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

This is my first suv, but I did test drive some of the others, but nothing came close to the Trailblazer. Have over 3.000 miles and have not had a single problem and average about 19 between city and hwy.

  • Excellent Full Size SUV - 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

This vehicle has been a dream to drive. Very responsive for a full-size truck. I test drove all the full size SUVs and this is the one to get. Priced attractively for what you get and quality has come a long way from the mid-1990s. Perfect balance between truck toughness and car comfort.

  • Excellent Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

  • Why I own a trailblazer - 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

The Chevy Trailblazer is a truck that I wanted ever since I saw it for the first time. It is stylish yet rugged. It is not too big but has great size. I feel extremely safe in this vehicle. It allows me to see the road and has no blind spots. Surprising for an suv. The ride is very smooth and responsive. Turning ratio is great. I can turn better in my trailblazer than my mazda 626.

  • Like a Rock as expected - 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Excellent truck as expected. 1500 miles so far and outside of keeping black paint clean this truck is great! Acceleration is fantastic, much better than my old 98 chevy.

  • A Amazing Sporty Battle Tank With That Luxury Feel - 2017 Chevrolet Sonic
    By -

I bought the 2017 Chevrolet Sonic LT (Auto) RS Hatchback and added the Convenience & Drivers Confidence Packages to match the goodies of the Premier Trim. There is a reason why I chose the trim I chose; the Hatchback only comes in 2 trims, the LT & Premier, there is a slight difference between the two trims. The LT has an amazingly quiet cabin equal to the highest trim of a $70k+ luxury vehicle, while the Premier has a more lowered suspension and as a result the Premiers cabin is not as quiet. The automatic can also be driven in manual mode without the annoying clutch pedal! The Performance is amazingly sporty for both engines as they both easily pounces from a stop. When applying the breaks it also comes to a smooth stop and when applied quickly Its very fast too! If you want a car that is amazingly quiet and caters to the highest safety standards, quality and convenience of a luxury car and at the same time not only looks sporty but actually is sporty with the attitude to show inside and out, this is a car worth test driving with the optional packages I have chosen. I call it my mini Lambo because it sits and pampers you like one yet its silent but deadly. It takes Unleaded gas and I get 30-35 MPG with mixed driving, now If you drive it sporty and have fun you will get about 24- 28 mpg which is still amazing. There is a reason this car has muscled Its way into the sports car scene and has been officially recognized. It is the only car so far to get a 5 star rating, the highest across all ratings for the Institute of Highway Safety Standards for such a small car. Everything in the car from the smallest button to the engine, inside and out is amazingly built and solid. You can tell that Chevrolet takes pride in every part of the car even to the smallest stitch. Take a test drive with the optional packages I have chosen and you will see that Chevrolet has built this amazingly rare gem to prove you dont have to spend a fortune to be pampered. I sure hope that this particular model will continue for years to come. There are many mixed reviews about this car in particular often nit-picking at it It is best to go and test drive it.

  • Great SUV - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

The fit and finish of the 07 Tahoe is fantastic. The improved fuel efficiency is nice but not all that noticiable. This truck performs like a much smaller car. If we were to go back six months we would still have chosen to purchase the 2007 Tahoe.

  • Goes - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
    By -

I have driven this truck for over a year now, and I have put over 35000 miles on it. Great truck to drive and also very fun. I have pulled over 16000 lbs in a gooseneck and it did perfect. The transmission is EXCELENT. Saves the brakes when hauling. With a K&N air filter I get about 13-16 GPM, with 265/75/R16, and a 1.5" front end lift it looks great.
