Overview & Reviews
Chevrolet sells an impressively wide range of vehicles, from subcompact hatchbacks to huge vans and SUVs. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vehicle, odds are that Chevy will have something to fit your needs.
Chevrolet got its start in 1911. After William C. Durant had been ousted from General Motors, he joined forces with Swiss-born racecar driver Louis Chevrolet to found the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. The company's first offering was the Classic Six. Introduced in 1912, this five-passenger touring sedan could top 65 mph, fast for the time. Chevrolet's storied bowtie logo -- reportedly inspired by the wallpaper of a Paris hotel room that Durant stayed at -- made its first appearance in 1914.
By 1918, Chevrolet's profitability allowed Durant to purchase enough shares in GM to regain control. Chevrolet became another division of GM, and was its largest volume division by the mid-1920s. By 1927, Chevrolet outsold rival Ford, with sales in excess of 1 million units.
In the mid-1930s Chevrolet introduced independent front suspension, which provided a smoother ride over the rough roads of the day. The 1940s saw continued success with affordable coupes, sedans and pickup trucks catering to American families, farmers and businessmen.
By the mid-1950s, Chevrolet, GM's entry-level division, had added a V8 engine, power steering and brakes, power windows and air-conditioning to its list of available features, allowing luxury for those on a tighter budget. Around this time the iconic Bel Air model -- available in coupe, sedan, convertible and wagon body styles -- proved very popular. The company introduced its alluring Corvette in 1953; the vehicle was the first mass-produced car with a fiberglass body.
The 1960s saw the unveiling of the popular, air-cooled Corvair compact, which held the distinction of being the first domestic production car with all-around independent suspension. That decade also witnessed the launch of the compact Nova, the midsize Chevelle and the sporty Camaro, the latter Chevrolet's answer to the wildly successful Ford Mustang. The Camaro proved an instant hit, comprising 10 percent of Chevrolet's total sales in 1967, its first year of production.
In the 1970s, Chevy responded to changing preferences by introducing small cars like the Vega and the Chevette, and by downsizing larger models such as the Caprice and Malibu. The company combated the market domination of foreign nameplates in the 1980s by rolling out the Cavalier. By the end of that decade, trucks and SUVs had started to become increasingly popular with the general consumer, and the brand's mid- and full-size models continue to this day to be some of the most popular on the road.
The '90s and the early 2000s saw the company raising the performance bar with its Corvette (notably the Z06 and, later, ZR1 variants) and reincarnated Impala SS. Chevrolet's Silverado pickup truck and Tahoe/Suburban SUVs continued to be hits as well. By 2010, the Camaro had returned to the lineup after a seven-year hiatus.
Modern times have seen Chevrolet make significant improvements in its small and midsize car models and introduce the Volt plug-in hybrid. The latter provides a nearly 40-mile range on electric power alone, and adds to the company's already well-rounded lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs. Though today's marketplace is very demanding, Chevrolet seems poised to remain a power player through its affordable and innovative vehicles.

Cobalt LS - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
By Jim C - October 19 - 3:56 amCar seems to stand higher than the old Cavalier models. Fit and finish are Japanese-like, interior materials are upscale for this class of car. Ecotec 2.2 litre engine is very smooth. Auto transmission shifts are almost undetectable. Electric steering give a very good road feel in this model. This car is fun to drive.

If the gas didnt go up! - 2003 Chevrolet Blazer
By BIGGUY - October 19 - 2:09 amThis SUV is great and if the gas price didnt go up I... ,but while I could drive it I had a ball. The style is very macho and the vehicle really sat in the road when passed by a 18 wheeler ( which isnt very offen

Not worth the price Chevy is charging. - 2006 Chevrolet Uplander
By Breezyww - October 18 - 7:37 pmThis van doesnt have enough power to merge quickly onto the highway. The captain chairs dont have armrests and not enough room from the edge of the seat to the side wall. The air vents are hard to direct the air to blow directly on the driver. The third row bench doesnt stow away and almost impossible to remove and put back in, as a woman I cant do it alone. There isnt enough room behind the third row for all of my groceries and I have to stack them on the third row seat. Too many blind spots, especially for short drivers and when the the third row seats are up. This alone has caused me to be in 5 near accidents in 6 weeks. The DVD play skipped on our last trip w/ an new DVD in it.

Style and so much more - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By marie - October 18 - 6:06 pmWe have had our HHR for a month, and its great! We traded our mini van because of terrible gas mileage. My husband had a PT when we got married, traded it for a Chevy Avalanche, then came the mini van! We wanted to get something with style and good gas mileage, these two things usually do not go together! But the HHR is the best of both worlds! Right now with only 700 miles we are getting around 26mpg(town & country roads),compared to 15mpg in the van. Price was great too ($14,900) LS model, which comes with many extras for a base model! Only complaint so far is the amount of storage in front area, this is a big pain! But a small price to pay for great gas mileage and great style!

Highly Impressed - 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Thomas - October 18 - 1:39 pmI purchased a Black 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4X4 High Country on Monday. I have owned it for about five days now, and couldnt be happier. My wife currently has a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Premier, so I was pretty familiar with all of the GM technology and design cues. Overall I think the design is extremely appealing and the use of LED lamps was very well done. I like that Chevrolet didnt go all out on the chrome. They made it look classy, but modern all at once. In terms of the interior, I think that the quality has been highly improved since 2013. There are little to no plastics in this interior. I am extremely satisfied with all of the technology aside from Chevys MyLink Navigation System. Since I have Apple CarPlay, I dont really have to worry about using it anyway. The Dual-Zone Automatic climate control is definitely a great feature to have. Along with climate, I live in Stowe, VT and having heated and cooled seats is a must. Might I also mention that the 22" Gloss Black wheels look astonishing. My kids really like the backseat as it is much like riding in Moms Tahoe. Chevy really thought about storage in this vehicle. I have absolutely no complaints about that. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed.

My eggbeater! - 2006 Chevrolet Aveo
By Jeanette - October 18 - 11:58 amAlthough most of my daughters friends do not like the exterior look of the car, I can honestly say I get really good gas mileage from this car! The gas tank is small, but considering I dont have to fill up every day, its not that bad! I do like my car. The gas mileage I figured out when I had to drive up north Michigan and WOW was I surprised. It is a stick shift also which helps with the gas mileage. Other then the few problems with the gas delivery system I had, I really love this car!

Chevrolet Builds A Winner - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
By mn13237 - October 18 - 11:20 am2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LT sedan was driven RT from Dallas/FtWorth to New York City when it had less than 200 miles at the beginning of the trip. The car performed beautifully. The handling and steering feed back are excellent. I am over 6 feet and I found the car with proper seat adjustment to be very comfortable and supportive during my long distance drive. Driving between 60 and 65, the driver information system reported I got as much as 35.4MPG on the highway because I used moderation in starting and stoping the car.

my avalanche - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Mark emark12222 - October 18 - 2:00 amLove it. Its very quiet, the steering is awesome, I have no idea how the editors review was so low on that. You get a 6 passenger vehicle(comfortably) without an overextended truck. And still have the 8 bed

DealerBlazer - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
By JimR - October 18 - 2:00 amWith all the problems with this SUV, it should be called a DealerBlazer. Its been in for problems six times in the first year. Now it is currently back at the dealer because the four wheel drive would not work. The dealer got it to work and couldnt get it to turn off. Nothing but major electrical problems, ranging from the four wheel drive to the seats, mirrors and alarm. Back window leaks have been fixed 4 times. Poor handling and seat comfort as well. Dont waste your money. Avoid it. For $36000 its a big waste of money.

I love my Eqinox - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Gail Stickner - October 18 - 1:03 amI bought my Equinox to have a higher, more comfortable interior than a car. The interior seems much larger than other vehicles I checked out. I has a very nice ride. I especially like the adjustable back seat to give more leg room to passengers. Mine also has a outdoor temperature feature that I like especially on winter roads to tell me when icy conditions may exist. My only concern is -- with 2000 miles on it, is getting 19.5 mpg around town.I hope this will improve. But it is a great vehicle and I could not be happier with it. I think GM should advertise the Equinox more.
