Chevrolet sells an impressively wide range of vehicles, from subcompact hatchbacks to huge vans and SUVs. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vehicle, odds are that Chevy will have something to fit your needs.

Chevrolet got its start in 1911. After William C. Durant had been ousted from General Motors, he joined forces with Swiss-born racecar driver Louis Chevrolet to found the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. The company's first offering was the Classic Six. Introduced in 1912, this five-passenger touring sedan could top 65 mph, fast for the time. Chevrolet's storied bowtie logo -- reportedly inspired by the wallpaper of a Paris hotel room that Durant stayed at -- made its first appearance in 1914.

By 1918, Chevrolet's profitability allowed Durant to purchase enough shares in GM to regain control. Chevrolet became another division of GM, and was its largest volume division by the mid-1920s. By 1927, Chevrolet outsold rival Ford, with sales in excess of 1 million units.

In the mid-1930s Chevrolet introduced independent front suspension, which provided a smoother ride over the rough roads of the day. The 1940s saw continued success with affordable coupes, sedans and pickup trucks catering to American families, farmers and businessmen.

By the mid-1950s, Chevrolet, GM's entry-level division, had added a V8 engine, power steering and brakes, power windows and air-conditioning to its list of available features, allowing luxury for those on a tighter budget. Around this time the iconic Bel Air model -- available in coupe, sedan, convertible and wagon body styles -- proved very popular. The company introduced its alluring Corvette in 1953; the vehicle was the first mass-produced car with a fiberglass body.

The 1960s saw the unveiling of the popular, air-cooled Corvair compact, which held the distinction of being the first domestic production car with all-around independent suspension. That decade also witnessed the launch of the compact Nova, the midsize Chevelle and the sporty Camaro, the latter Chevrolet's answer to the wildly successful Ford Mustang. The Camaro proved an instant hit, comprising 10 percent of Chevrolet's total sales in 1967, its first year of production.

In the 1970s, Chevy responded to changing preferences by introducing small cars like the Vega and the Chevette, and by downsizing larger models such as the Caprice and Malibu. The company combated the market domination of foreign nameplates in the 1980s by rolling out the Cavalier. By the end of that decade, trucks and SUVs had started to become increasingly popular with the general consumer, and the brand's mid- and full-size models continue to this day to be some of the most popular on the road.

The '90s and the early 2000s saw the company raising the performance bar with its Corvette (notably the Z06 and, later, ZR1 variants) and reincarnated Impala SS. Chevrolet's Silverado pickup truck and Tahoe/Suburban SUVs continued to be hits as well. By 2010, the Camaro had returned to the lineup after a seven-year hiatus.

Modern times have seen Chevrolet make significant improvements in its small and midsize car models and introduce the Volt plug-in hybrid. The latter provides a nearly 40-mile range on electric power alone, and adds to the company's already well-rounded lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs. Though today's marketplace is very demanding, Chevrolet seems poised to remain a power player through its affordable and innovative vehicles.

  • The underestimated truck - 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
    By -

This truck is the best we have ever owned. On a good day I get close to 18 mpg and its all stock. The truck is built very well and have had only had little problems with it. We use it to plow and is great at it. The take off it very fast with the 6.0L aluminum light big block. The off road ability is very nice because it sits nice and high.

  • Super Cool - 2003 Chevrolet SSR

This car is super sleek and stlyin. Gives you the older car look with the speed and acceleration of a new sports car. Definitly a pimp ride on 22s.

  • Great - 1994 Chevrolet Corvette

Great Car, spent all nights indoors, paint waxed annually, kept clean 24/7. 6-speed, never raced, adult owner. 100% dependable. Engine compartment as clean as paint. I suffered Illness in 95 and couldnt drive much after that. Have other corvette for fun. Still almost smells factory fresh!

  • It does what it does VERY well - 2017 Chevrolet Spark

Ive owned the car over 7 months and love it. I was looking for a good mid-sized used car but kept checking on the new little cars. I found the deal on this for under $9000 and had to go for it. I especially liked the technology package, that will connect to my smart phone using all its functionality over the display. My only concern, after doing my research, was whether I would fit into it as I am 63 and over 300 lbs. With the seat all the way back, I was good. In particular, I found I had all the knee room I would need. I could take this on a long trip with no real trouble. The back seat is absolutely useless to me because I do not transport children and an adult would NEVER fit in. I removed the back seat cushions, folded the seat back down and have what I call a two seater wagon. Ive done a lot of transporting cargo and been surprised what it will carry. Performance is not sporty by any means, but it is always competent. Acceleration is adequate and never lacking, steering is what you would expect from a small car, transmission and clutch are fine, and the suspension handles what the road throws at it. I drive 4 miles to work and every couple of weeks go on weekend excursions, and have gotten 36.7 MPG over the past 5 months. The paint, fit, and finish is wonderful, and the styling is very nice. All these things I love about the car, but be aware of what it does NOT do. It does NOT have power seats, windows or mirrors, so get into the habit of cranking windows again. It does NOT have cruise control. It does not have remote control for the door locks but it does lock the doors automatically when driving and it will not allow you to unlock the car while the car is running - kind of odd. The hatch only opens with the key, no remote switch. With the back seat down, the floor is not flat but is low in the middle. These negatives are insignificant considering all the positives of the car. A note on the geopolitics of the car -- it is made in South Korea by what used to be Daewoo. I never expected to by a GM car after the bailout by taxpayers and Im still not happy about supporting GM, but this car REALLY gets it done for me so I put politics behind me.

  • Michigan to Florida under $85 in Gas !!!! - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox

This is a very nice riding vehicle - comfort in both seats and lots of cargo capacity if needed. Handled highway to panhandle great. No issues at all . Quiet and comfortable. Eco button saves even more gas. The Bluetooth was very much appreciated.

  • I Love this car even though I hate Chevy - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    By -

Even though I hate all non classic and non antique Chevys I absolutely Love my 99 Hello Sailor Red Chevy Monte Carlo SSLS 3.1!!!! Very comfortable, so much that I drove 12 hour straight from my home in East Texas to Albuquerque, NM without rest breaks!!!! I drive it to the limit in frequency, distance, speed, agility on the road, etc.

  • 95 Chevy Astro Van - 1995 Chevrolet Astro
    By -

Bought it new in Cal in 95 with the California package of most upgrades. Has very good power for acceleration and towing. Always starts and runs in excellent manner. I like the truck type feel as it is built on a truck chassis with rear wheel drive. Bit light in back for driving on ice. Bench seats not comfortable for adult to sit in for long drives.

  • Satisfied - 2002 Chevrolet Blazer
    By -

My Blazer has 20K miles on it and havent had a moments trouble. It has never been back to the dealership for anything. Fit and function are better than the big three average. Paint job quality is excellext. I have driven 4 different Blazers in the last eight years and plan to continue this buying trend.

  • A True Sports Car - 1999 Chevrolet Corvette
    By -

Since this is the hardtop version, it comes equipped with the 6-speed manual and sport suspension. The ride is very stiff and you feel every bump but it also corners like it is on rails. This is a sports car and it drives like one. There really is no other vehicle in the world that can compare to the Corvette. There are only a handful of better handling or faster cars and all of them cost at least twice as much. I do not recommend the hardtop as a daily or city driver. I highly recommend it for use as a SPORTS car.

  • Mommas Baby - 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

I purchased my baby March 2000 and I have not had not one disappointment!
