This Year's Model Updates:

Chevy adds two new models on either end of the price spectrum for 2000. On the low end, a new Value Van includes basic equipment for a low price, while on the high end, a Warner Bros. Edition provides leather and a video entertainment system. New radios include radio data system (RDS) on uplevel versions. Three-door models die this year, while remaining models get new interior fabric patterns and a redesigned gauge cluster with a scratch-resistant lens. Smokey Carmel is a new paint color.

Pros:
  • Carlike ride and handling, power sliding door, eight-passenger seating option, available in-van entertainment system.
Cons:
  • Uninspired styling, flimsy modular seats, interior fit and finish, coarse engine noise.

  • Bad transmission - 2000 Chevrolet Venture

I bought the van used in Feb. 2003,when it had 12,000 miles on it. It now has 25,000 and shifts roughly. I think the tranmission will go out soon.

Great luck with it. No major repairs in 3 years. No dealership visits.

*Headlights are terrible, if you are going to be driving at night, drive somthing else. *If you want a vehicle that is a snap-together vehicle your looking at the right one. Most everything inside is snapped together making it easy for it to unsnap and wear out. *If you like unusal noises coming from your vehicle, this ones a regular musical instrument.

  • Disappointed - 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Poor quality. My last minivan was a Lumina APV. Quality has gone down with the Venture. We had numerous problems with the windows - scratching sounds and grease from inside door. Numerous trips to dealer to get fixed. Several problems with dash lights like air bag, ABS, Check Engine. Cup holders on floor are flimsy. Rear hatch plastic handle broke. Replaced brakes just after warrenty expired. Replaced manifold gasket. Mechanic said this was very common. Dealer was nice enough to cover the cost of the manifold gasket even though we were past the warrenty. The change engine oil light is very tricky to reset.

This vehicle has always provided safe and reliable transportation. The ride is very solid, the acceleration is more than adequate. The van has plenty of useful space for a family of four.

  • Great Venture Van - 2000 Chevrolet Venture

I like this van very much. Its fun to drive and gets good mpg. Usually around 20 in town and up to 26 highway. I have the eight seating van and it has come in handy more than once although I usually am alone--back and forth to work. Its very comfortable for the driver and front passenger. Middle passengers have mentioned they would like to have armrests. With seats out have gotten 8 dining room chairs in the back!

  • Fun to Drive - 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Bought car new when Value model first introduced. Best minivan for budget at the time, appreciate no cuts on the standard drive train. Performance and handling are above expectations. I like driving this car. Regular wheelbase model looks sportier than extended models and has smaller turning radius. At 20k to 30k had metal flakes collecting in transmission pressure control solenoid sump which periodically made shifting very rough (fixed under warranty). At 42k needed to replace intake manifold gasket (GM paid half). Currently 44.5k and I am satisfied with this car.

  • Nice Ride but Ohh the problems! - 2000 Chevrolet Venture

The overall driving performance of our Venture van has been very good. But oh the problems! At 49k It is having the maifold gasket replaced (thats $600.to you and me) Intermittent airbag light, rogue electrical problems with heater and ac switch, oil change light which refuses to be reset, steering box and two Idler arms replaced, front brake drums, not to mention the rear hatch strap replaced 3 times. Can we agree the plastic strap just doesnt work?

  • Buy Japanese - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
    By -

I would never buy another Chevy Venture. Our back windshield wiper fluid dispenser has been fixed 3 times and is broken again. The drivers side window jams and wont go down all the way. A year ago, the airbag light went on and wouldnt go off. Not covered under warrenty. Weve had the seat belt replaced because it tore. The front seat fabric tore--replaced under warranty. The rear heat/ac doesnt work anymore or only at times--costly repair. It does get good gas mileage and is easy to drive.

  • A Useful Vehicle - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
    By -

Value Venture met need for affordable new minivan with capacity for 8 seats, and no compromise on engine and transm. Handling and ride are good for a van. At 43K, 34 mos. some squeaks and rattles, and a manifold gasket change. Earlier transmission valve problem fixed under warranty.
