Overview & Reviews
Chevy adds two new models on either end of the price spectrum for 2000. On the low end, a new Value Van includes basic equipment for a low price, while on the high end, a Warner Bros. Edition provides leather and a video entertainment system. New radios include radio data system (RDS) on uplevel versions. Three-door models die this year, while remaining models get new interior fabric patterns and a redesigned gauge cluster with a scratch-resistant lens. Smokey Carmel is a new paint color.
- Carlike ride and handling, power sliding door, eight-passenger seating option, available in-van entertainment system.
- Uninspired styling, flimsy modular seats, interior fit and finish, coarse engine noise.

Great vehicle, but weve had problems - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
By duraflex - May 9 - 10:40 amI have owned 5 GM cars over the last 25 years and although I generally like the Venture, it has failures Ive never had experienced before. The two biggest have been the head gasket issue on the 3.1L engine (almost $600) and now the A/C has died which will cost another $600-$800. These 2 items seem like common problems on this van. The negatives are the big servicing issues. I dont expect this from a GM product. I really hate to say this but it will make me question whether to buy GM in the future.

Worthless after 200,000 km - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
By B MacAvelia - February 6 - 3:14 pmNot bad if you dont drive much. Lego kit used to put interior together. Leaking manifold gasket, coolant problems, gas gauge either full or low, poor lighting for night driving, electrical problems constant pwr.windows, pwr. door locks, oil light reset is difficult to reset, and when it reaches 200,000 km its scrap metal. AC/heater problems only worked on high. Removable seats are too heavy and are not that easy to remove or put back into place. Money pit in almost every way. Very poor value for the price.

I like my Venture - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
By Dean - December 28 - 10:07 amBought my 2000 Venture new in Sept 1999 and I still love it. We put an average of 18,000 miles a year on the car and drive it all over the country with 3 kids every summer. It has plenty of room for kids and stuff and everyones happy. Our van currently has 110,000 miles on it and is still going strong. Havent had any major problems just normal wear and tear. Overall a great van for a family that likes to travel.

Mine was made on a holiday! - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
By SDenney - August 17 - 4:49 pmWhen we bought this car, we purchased an extended warranty. Unfortunately it was a dealer (MPP) warranty but we did not know this. The motor went out at 29,000 miles and we were forced to replace it!! The warranty only covered a portion of the cost plus a junkyard motor!! Lots of maintenance cost associated with it too! Little things like the blinker lights are expensive not to mention the back light panel.

Great fuel economy - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
By jeepride - July 18 - 8:49 amHad van since new. The interior parts are very cheap. The video system controllers kept popping out at times when accelerating. Dealer replaced them under warranty and they continued to fall out. I put adhesive strips behind them and they havent fell off since. I pulled both front seats out the first week I owned the van to send them to an upholstery shop to add lower side support. Now much better. The leather seat surfaces wore a hole within 40,000 miles. My intake went at 42,000 miles. Keep an eye one your coolant level. The 100,000 spark plugs are meaningless with coils that only last 35,000 miles. Transmission shifts hard after 43,000 miles. Dealer charged me for a transmission flush ($300.00). Now bad again at 73K.

Too Many Problems - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
By ? - April 22 - 8:55 pmWhen new, towed back to dealer 3 times because it wouldnt start. Bad Ground. Two recalls on power door. New brakes with less than 20000 miles. Environmental air pump failure Out of warranty,$300+ repair. Sudden Transmission failure at 43000 miles. Chevy Paid even though it was 2yrs out of warranty. 3000 miles after rebuild, rough shifting & whirring noise, trouble with transmission pressure solenoid. Suggested it might be ROOT CAUSE of original transmission FAILURE. Fell on DEAF ears, $400+ bill! Leaking Plastic Gas Lines replaced. Another $400 bill. Car is 5 yrs old with 46600 miles. No longer sure of its reliability. Due for new exhaust system. Suspect Power Steering needs somethng.

Love it so far - 2000 Chevrolet Venture
By Cowboybill - May 13 - 2:00 amWeve had the van for about a year and weve loved it so far. Its smooth, roomy and powerful. We had a 4wd Mazda MPV previously. We bought a service warranty with it because we knew it had a repuation of failing intake manifold gasket at around 60k- 80k. About 8-9mos after we had it the auto-sliding door wouldnt close properly. We finally took it to the dealership to fix it. While there I had them check the intake manifold gasket. They said it was leaking so I had them replace it under the warranty. The plastics parts in the inerior are not the strongest.
