  • All around good, smaller SUV - 2001 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

This car survived 2.5 winters in the Albany cold while being driven my a college student. While many friends cars died due to the cold, my Tracker started anytime. The 4x4 is fun for the mountains, snow and the few times I was able to bring it off-road. The car is roomy for the two people in front, but has little space for the people in the back. I am 64" and fit in the car great, but rarely does someone sit behind me. Decent amount of room. I fit a 6 foot long bookcase inside and can handle a queen size bed on the top. I have had to put very little work into this car. Belts twice, alternator, front brakes, and front rotors. Under the hood this car is tight.

  • Peppy and fun to drive - 2000 Chevrolet Tracker

Ive owned my Tracker since Dec of 99. I bought it while I was in the Navy for a fuel friendly and peppy car for the San Diego area. The engine is a little under powered, but with k&n filters, cherry bomb muffler, and megaphone style exhaust tip, mine seems to have picked up a little bounce in its step if you know what I mean. I owned it less than six months before I put it on a trail in San Diego. The Uniroyal tires that were stock on it did a good job holding onto the rocks, and its footing only wavered when a large rose quartz stone under the left front shattered and I slid about ten feet. But Id say these are vastly underestimated litte 4x4s.

I bought this car for my daughter and we both love it! The gas mileage is OK compared to Jeep Liberty and really fun to drive. Cheap to insure compared to others. This thing really goes!

  • Regretful Purchase - 2002 Chevrolet Tracker

I have owned this vehicle for 5 years now & cannot wait to get rid of it. There is absolutely no pep to the car very sluggish. If you happen to hit a bump in the road the vehicle actually jumps. The ride is rough and the vehicle will only go into 4wd when the car is at a complete stop which can be very inconvient. Drivers side window has squeeked ear splitting since almost day one. Brought it in to the dealer stopped squeeking for about 6 mths & then came back. Back door on drivers side will not open. Lock will not pull up for nothing. Windows fog up continuously in the winter so defrost has to stay on.

This has been a pretty practical SUV. I have enjoyed it though I dont drive a whole lot, it is dependable and kind of fun to drive. It has a power button which my son calls a thruster.

  • My First Tracker - 2001 Chevrolet Tracker

My 2001 Chevy Tracker is my very first car. I love the fact that I never have to tuch the light switch. Its a very strong SUV. A couple months ago I hit a guardrail at 50 mph and went across the road into a ditch. It suffered little damage and I was pulled out of the ditch and was able to make it to work about 5 miles away. Compaired to the Expedition that was 400 yards up the road from me which was facing the ditch that had the same sort of accident as I did was undrivable. The accident I atribute to less the ideal tread depth on non LT tires.

  • Great for couple with no kids - 2003 Chevrolet Tracker

I love my little Tracker. I bought it 5 years ago and have not had one bit of trouble with it. This vehicle is very compact if you need to put a child car seat in the back seat be prepared to have the chid banging the back of your seat. You cant fit an adult in the back seat comfortably. But that aside if you put the seats down you have a huge amount of room to haul stuff. This little SUV is very cute and alot of fun to drive. It has get up and go and handles well. When you pop it into four wheel drive you can go through almost anything. In Minnesota winters it has come in handy a quite a few times. My car sits outside and it has always started even when the temp was 30 below zero.

  • 4DR ZR2 4WD SUV 6cyl - 2001 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

I bought this vehicle because I wanted a small SUV 4wd for Michigan winter driving and the price was reasonable compared to others. 95k miles later and no major problems to report. On windy days you do have to hang on to steering wheel tight and watch your blindspots on side and rearview mirrors. Rack and pinion steering is great. Also easy stepping in and out of vehicle. Seating could use a little more padding. Easy to drive.

  • Great Car - 2002 Chevrolet Tracker

I bought this car because I wanted something versatile and suited to outdoor adventures, but which would also be practical for city driving -- that is exactly what this car is. I took it offroading in the Northern California wilderness and in Death Valley several times, and the Tracker proved itself to be tough, well-built, and the short wheel base lets it go almost anywhere. Unfortunately, the short wheel base is also the most negative aspect of the car. It was very squirrely on the freeway and I spun out a few times on wet or snowy roads. When I blew out a tire on I5, the car spun out of control and was totaled. The squirrely-ness of the car is my only complaint - no mechanical problems.
