I looked around a lot before I decided on this vehicle. It is fun to drive, looks great, and is getting great gas mileage. No rattles, smooth on bumpy roads, and the audio system is great! The air conditioner works well and quickly. The engine is very accessible, which should help with labor costs down the line. Water, power steering pumps are easy to get to, and the stabilizer bar over the engine is a good feature.

  • Consider this little SUV - 2001 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

A well engineered little SUV and a lot of fun to drive. It will grow on you.No problems-26 mpg on the freeway and about 23 overall.I got 4wd, but consider the ABS instead.Id recommend the 4 cyl mated with the manual-save $4,000 and sacrifice towing and smoothness but make it up in fun (adventure) and economy. The 4 door wagon isnt huge, but more storage than a lot of station wagons. If youre looking for a practical and reliable SUV that will actually handle off road situations, you owe it to yourself to consider the Tracker.CR has been down on it despite good reliability an crash test results-its time for people to recognize the Trackers strong points given $15,000 price.

  • Too light for long trips - 2000 Chevrolet Tracker

I have found that on open highway travel, that this vehicle is too light in high winds it is easily pushed around and I have even been pushed off the road due to high winds.

  • So Far So Good! - 2002 Chevrolet Tracker

Ive had my tracker for about 9 months now and Ive had no problems thus far. It handles great in the snow and that comes in handy when I have to get to work at 4am and the plows arent out yet. Its a tad cramped on long drives but if you stretch every once in a while its bearable. Im single and dont have kids so space is never an issue... I just got a tow hitch installed so I can haul around my new Wave Runner... When I see how it handles the trailering etc... Ill post some more... Overall I get about 20-24 miles to the gallon... great for a truck built on a ladder frame... Ive even taken it offroad in New Hampshire on some trails and it handled great.

I have the 2 door, 4WD convertible, and it is fun to drive. Of course it is a bit noisy, but it is a convertible. I see some people complain about the quality on this website, but even after being shipped to Hawaii, there was not a single minor defect. I have about 750 miles on it so far, and not a rattle or squeak-it runs perfectly so far, and I get 24 mpg in town, even with limited use of AC. Being in Hawaii, there is no need for a heater or defroster, but the base model I got came with an airconditioner that is not really needed in a convertible I often rent Jeep Wranglers for work, and they are nowhere as practical

  • Cost Saving Fun - 1999 Chevrolet Tracker

Just a quick note to say that I totally disagree with Edmunds review of the tracker. I have found my tracker to be fun to drive, fuel efficient and reliable. It is more than capable on back roads and on snowy main roads. It has started every day no matter what the temperature outside. The driving position is fantastic. Poop on Edmunds for making people of average incomes feel inferior for not driving more expensive vehicles.
