  • Big space in small package - 2002 Chevrolet Tracker

We bought this rig to save us some fuel (also have a Dodge 1500). We bought the 2.0 L inline 4. While its a little weak, it makes up for it by being frugel. We broke this one in fast and loose crusing in the 75-85 MPH range from CA to Denver and back. At 80+ we were getting 25+ MPG Im 66" and this was the only mini SUV we found that had enough leg room for me (barely). We are satisified with it so far.

  • Inexpensive/Reliable 4x4 - 2000 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

Ive owned my Tracker for almost 3 years now. No major problems to report. Good fuel mileage and does extremely well in snow. Just bought new "more aggressive" all-terrain tires (Original Tigerpaws are pretty wimpy). Plan on keeping it for a long time.

This tracker has been a great car! Its the 4wheel drive, 4 door and we generally drive it over our Mercedes E class. Mileage is around 25mpg on the road, very responsive handling, reliable car. We love it!

Park it anywhere and not worry about anyone being too interested in it. Does what I want it to do. Didnt cost that much for a new car and goes where I want it to (including 18 inches of snow) and can pop the top in Summer. Wanted a car which will sell easily later on (teens like it). Never had a problem other than a bad differential fluid being put in it. Not much room in the back, but its not for traveling around the country. Here and there, thats all.

  • Very Good Value For The Money - 2002 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

At $14,000,the Tracker is a very good value. Good handling, adequate power, good gas mileage (22 to 28 mpg), and nicely equipped even with no factory options. However, that the Tracker is no CR-V or RAV4. Its ride is considerably busier, the quality of the materials is inferior and the rear seat is tight. Buyers who are considering more upscale Trackers (LT or ZR2) should be aware that the fancier Trackers, even with the big-time rebates, are approaching CR-V prices and I can attest that my CR-V outclasses my Tracker in many respects. People who want an inexpensive 4X4 will probably be pleased with a base Tracker.

The fuel economy, mobility, flexibility and durability is very good.

  • Consider this little SUV - 2001 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

A well engineered little SUV and a lot of fun to drive. It will grow on you.No problems-26 mpg on the freeway and about 23 overall.I got 4wd, but consider the ABS instead.Id recommend the 4 cyl mated with the manual-save $4,000 and sacrifice towing and smoothness but make it up in fun (adventure) and economy. The 4 door wagon isnt huge, but more storage than a lot of station wagons. If youre looking for a practical and reliable SUV that will actually handle off road situations, you owe it to yourself to consider the Tracker.CR has been down on it despite good reliability an crash test results-its time for people to recognize the Trackers strong points given $15,000 price.

  • Too light for long trips - 2000 Chevrolet Tracker

I have found that on open highway travel, that this vehicle is too light in high winds it is easily pushed around and I have even been pushed off the road due to high winds.

  • Great small SUV - 2000 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

I still love my Tracker after 2 years. very solidly built - no squeaks or build-quality problems. I have done some light off-road driving (camping) and my Tracker performed very well on steep hills, deep muddy ruts and slippery wet dirt roads.

  • NOT FOR EVERYBODY, BUT LOTS OF FUN - 1999 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

Puchased used with 25,000 miles. Performance ratings, etc. are for a vehicle of this size & powerplant. Quite a few problems (all eventually resolved by GM under warranty) with plastic parts, but mechanically no problems at all. Really a two adult vehicle, children or small adults would fit in back. Overall, not for those seeking lots of luxury or room, but for those young or young at heart who want 4WD, a convertible, and good fuel economy (23-26 mpg) in one fun package.
