  • The Repair Kid Said Junk It - 2003 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

After having a 95 small Tracker that rusted out, I bought this 03 in 2013 with a good car fax and 76000 miles.. It appeared to have surface rust on bottom. The electronics and safety features were far advanced in comparison to the 95. The interior was luxurious compared to the 95. As with all Trackers it was fantastic in the snow with good snow tires on it. After a year it had leaking fuel lines and cracks in the fuel tank (I drove this only on the streets.) The shop and I discovered that Chevrolet had no replacement tanks and little else for the Tracker. No one else made an aftermarket tank either. Even a junkyard that had several of them couldnt find one decent enough to sell me. I ended up fixing the tank myself with Eastwood fuel tank sealer. I had bought the top of the line bumper to bumper warranty from Vehicle One and they have a small disclaimer in the contract that says they wont cover any problem due to rust, even though they specifically indicate that theyll cover gas tanks and fuel lines ("normal wear and tear" whatever else that is). They also made various disparaging remarks when I spoke with them about my claim. Dont buy a warranty from [non-permissible content removed]. The rockers started to rust by that time and I traded it in this month getting about 25% of what I had in it. Apparently rust is a big problem underneath on the Trackers. Buyer beware. Also I had both front door handles on the inside break. They are fun to drive but cant take the salt even when you wash the underside frequently during the winter thaws. The kid at the shop where I took it said I should just take down to the junkyard...

  • Save your money - buy something else. - 2000 Chevrolet Tracker

Purchased this vehicle used with 132k miles on it. Figured I was safe after reading all the great reviews on this site. Boy was I mistaken. Within one month the timing belt needed replaced and door latch needed repaired. The handle alone was over 100.00 for the part. Two weeks later the motor went. Was one repair bill after another. Found out later that the motor is a common problem with this year which is why the repairs are so costly.

i did not enjoy the chevy tracker i purchased . the gas mileage was not good and the brakes sucked on gravel roads . needless to say the day i rolled my tracker in to a ditch , it was totaled . the trackers are way too light in the rear end , especially on gravel roads .

It got good gas mileage when it ran. It had a lot of problems with the body falling apart

  • Cant wait to get rid of it!!! - 2002 Chevrolet Tracker

Bought this in 02 after my lease of my alero ran out. This is one of the worst cars I have ever owned. The wind moves you all over the road and during the winter it is even worse. Almost went in the ditch a couple of times from the semis gust of wind blowing me over. I am getting an 05 Equinox LT fully loaded in a couple of weeks as I had to special order mine from Chevrolet. I am so looking forward to never driving this ever again. I dont recommend this car at all!!!

  • 48,000 complete engine failure - 2001 Chevrolet Tracker

50 miles from home in a 2001 4 Cyc 2.0L 4 door. Purchased less than 2 months ago. The engine fell apart from the inside, cloging the oil pump and totaling the motor.

  • Soured GM Owner - 2003 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

No Bells or Whistles - very little in space needed, and very poor pickup in acceleration. After years of Gm satisfaction - this vehicle was a poor choice and poor dealer introduction to the few gadgets it has. Gas guzzler far exceeded the listing on the sticker, and I will never buy another again.

Well I did put a lot of miles on it and it hasnt given me any major problems. But exterior is falling apart. The top is tearing up at the seams after 3 years and rear bumper has lost all of it screws. The interior was decent except that the window regulator went bad and the A/C fan doesnt blow. If you decide to get one, inspect it very carefully.

  • BIG MISTAKE - 2000 Chevrolet Tracker
    By -

This vehicle was a BIG mistake. I never should have purchased it! The salesman at Ocean City Chevrolet in Shallotte, NC. Was a LIAR! This vehicle is worthless in its resale & trade-in value. My suggestion would be to anyone looking to buy a Chev. Tracker, BY A FORD!
