Pros: Nice paint (I love the Metallic Blue), Engine!! (4.8L has the power)...Im sure 5.?L would burn up tires. Decently designed interior. Stereo is adequate. Cons: Poor build quality with noises in dash and electrical problem right off of the lot! Reliability ratings are poor at best from my readings but my experience has been okay so far. I would recommend the truck for the love of driving a powerful Chevy truck that looks nice...dont buy it for a long-term owner... SF

  • Piston Slap is not normal! - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Overall liked the truck and held up well, with the exception of the engine. At 16,500 it began knocking on start-up and got worse the next few months. I took it to the dealer because I obviously needed a new motor! Well to my surprise the dealer says "they all do that, that is normal" A day of research on the internet, and a couple sleepless nights, I traded it in to a wholesaler before the end of the week. I take very good care of my trucks and expect them to look/act/rune like new, and hold there resale value, but with a gas engine that sounded like a diesel, this one had to go. I bought a Ford.

  • I Love Mine! - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This is one of the best trucks I have ever owned. My wife and I also own a Toyota Tacoma Pre-runner that wears me out on long trips. My Z71 Silverado is so comfortable, I believe that I could drive it across the country and not even be sore at the end of the trip. The power and the 4WD has never let me down when called upon.

i have had this truck for around 1.5 years put on about 25,000 miles and it just is cheaply made the wobble in the front end large turning radius for a short truck the cd player was crap the latch broke on the tailgate, center console, have had the parking brake fixed by gm 6 times ive never driven with it on ac is weak check engine light comes on randomly fuel pumps @ 149xxx, speakers are blown and falling out of their holes, burns oil but dosent leak it, super light in the back end my boat drug it down a dry launch ramp with parking brake on boat (6400) lbs and very narrow interior im about 61" and 265 and the seats are narrow and uncomfortable any long drives require frequent rest stops.

  • Simply Outstanding - 2001 Z71 Stepside - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I bought my 2001 in 2006 because I really wanted a stepside. I found this Z71 4X4 and pulled the trigger. It had 89,000 on the odometer. Now it has 140,000. Ive driven it hard and it keeps coming back for more. One of the first things I added to it was a Flowmaster muffler with chrome tips. I get a thrill every time I fire it up.

  • Best Truck I ever owned - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This is the best truck I ever owned. No major problems except for air conditioning belt, and replaced brakes at 7,000 miles now have 52,000 miles and no problems. Captian chairs excellent heated seats are great in winter time. Only problem with interior, is the back seat does not give enough leg room for my growing kids.I pull a 5,000lb horse trailer in the MT, and I cant tell its there. I look forward to up grading to the 2500HD crew cab on day.. If you want a good family truck get the silverado...

Outstanding truck from the minute I purchased it. 5.3L v8 has tons of power and great fuel economy (15 around town and over 18 on highway). Interior is well designed with clear, easy to read guages. Mechanical and exterior has held up well. No trips to the service department yet.

  • Best Truck ever - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Owned since new, has 175,000km. Not a single problem ever, only money spent has been on regular maintenance. Has the 4.8 V8 which as a ton of power for this small truck and gets about 12l/100km.
