This Year's Model Updates:

After a complete redesign last year, few changes make news for 2000. Most substantial is the addition of an optional fourth access door to extended cab models. The already potent Vortec 4800 and 5300 V8 engines make more power, and programmable door locks can be instructed to unlock automatically when the Silverado is shut off. A Sportside cargo box is available on 1500 LT models, and 1500 4WD trucks can be equipped with wheel flares this year. LS and LT trucks get a standard electrochromic self-dimming rearview mirror with compass and exterior temperature display, and a soft tonneau cover is available from the factory.

Pros:
  • Fourth-door access standard on extended cab models, strong 4800 and 5300 V8 engines, programmable power door locks, disc brakes at all four corners.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, sketchy build quality.

This is a really nice truck to drive. It has the off road capabilities as well as a dream ride. Very luxerious interior and stylish exterior. There is very little i would do to chang this truck.

i recently just purchased a 2000 chevy silverado 1500 4x4. the truck has over 270,000 miles and is still running strong. i bought this vehicle as my first vehicle and i would trade it for anything. i pull a 22 foot trailer with it almost everyday for work and it doesnt even hesitate. i only paid 1800 for the truck and all ive done to it was a wheel bearing and a alternator. i plan on buying a lift very soon and rebuilding the motor to put a cam in it.

I would buy it again. I like the truck it has never let me down in any way. It has power to pull my gooseneck horse trailer,it does really well in 4-wheel drive. It hauls hay, feed, lumber, in 80000 miles I have never had any trouble out of it. Put the key in and turn the switch it starts and runs put it in gear and it goes put on the brakes and it stops you cant beat that.

Bought this truck new 9 years ago, have put 98,000 miles on it and still running the original front brakes! Had to replace the rears at about 90k. Its a 4.8L and has had very few problems: ABS sensor quit around 39k, just after warranty expired, but dealer fixed it for a hundred bucks; fuel pressure regulator quit around 85k, and that cost me $300; had to replace the battery about a year and a half ago; and leaky rear sliding window was fixed under warranty. Still runs and drive just about like new. Does tick for about 30 seconds after cold start, and fuel gauge is erratic. Overall a quiet and solid truck. I haul dirt bikes occasionally and it rides better with a load.

I have owned my truck for 7 months and I have definatly put it to the test. Living in Utah makes it easy to test the trucks abilities in the elements. So far I am very happy with the performance and durabilty. This truck has taken me to the Grand Canyon in November (8" of snow 45 miles unplowed), through rivers, streams, muddy ponds, up and down mountain trails, and in between all this pounding, the extensive road trips in comfort. Keep in mind my truck is still stock with no modifications.

  • Best used truck, anywhere, any place!! - 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I bought this truck used at the local dealer here in town. I originally had an old well used, worn out, 87 Ford Ranger that had 139,000 miles and was rusting, battered, beat up, and not reliable anymore. I discovered the 2000 Chevy 1500 Silverado LS regular cab, off the internet and went to check it out. Its amazing! Simply put. Even though it has 71,000 miles, it is still in incredibly good condition. This truck is built to last and way more rugged than my old Ford Ranger. This truck has the optional 4.8L V8 engine instead of the V6, which gives it a lot more oomph on the road.

This is the best looking Truck on the road today. They messed up when they (chevrolet) changed the front grill to what it is today. (man what kind of drugs were they on?) It handles like a dream and looks like one to. I love mine and will not buy anything else!!!!!!!

  • Love my Chevy - 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Ive owned this truck for 8 years now and it now has around 150,000 miles on it. It has been a great truck with very minimal repairs. My fuel pump went out at 120,000 miles and my alternator just went out at 149,000. Both were original parts! I live in Alaska and haul my snowmachines, 4-wheelers, and boat all over the state, and the transmission has lasted 150,000 miles and still going strong. I took off my 1/2 ton leaf springs and swapped them with 3/4 ton springs to help with heavy loads. Other than that, I have not modified the truck at all. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a truck at a good affordable price.
