Overview & Reviews
The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

Go Buy One! - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By The "Bruggy Man" - October 1 - 10:00 amI upgraded to this vehicle from a 99 Ext. Cab GMC Sierra. I love having four "real" doors, especially when you have a two year old daughter to buckle in a car seat. The additional cabin space in the back seat is well worth the sacrifice of eight inches of bed space. The 5.3 litre V8 is smooth as glass. There is also great visibility when looking out the side windows and back window. The current rebates and discounts are incredible! I bought this vehicle for $1,200 less than I paid for my 99 model brand new.

LS extended 4 door Silverado 2wd - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Baker, A - October 1 - 10:00 amV 6 Ext cab 4dr truck. I bought it with 12 miles on it. Forget an SUV, the cab can sit 6 people, 5 comfortable. Road Trips Hwy fuel = 24 mpg and city = 19 mpg. Steering is tight not lose. Hwy driving is smooth. Body is tight, no excessive noise when driving. Only needed oil changes, no repairs in 15 months owned truck. AM/FM/CD radio sounds great. Can converse with others at normal tones. Has 2 outlets for plugging in phones, etc. Roomy glove box and center arm rest/console has lots of space. We do volunteer work for haunted house in Neosho Rapids,KS and this truck has hauled us down a muddy lane back and forth with no trouble at all.

FRUSTRATED - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By David Szymanski - September 22 - 9:33 pmIn one year this vehicle has been to three different dealers,a total of eight times for repair. The breaking is terrible, drastick loss of power at times, clunking and grinding in drive train, leather seat seams split. This from what is supposedly a 37,000.00 sticker price... somebody had a bad day!!

My First Large Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By BigChief39 - August 19 - 10:00 amWow...what a truck. You cant always trust what you read in reviews. Consumer Reports speaks of the bouncy ride until you put 500lbs in the bed. Not true. The ride is smooth and quiet. The truck absorbs bumps like theyre not even there. Steering is deliberate and the power/exceleration is wonderful. Most reviews speak of cheap interior materials. I have owned Japanese and German automobiles. The materials and build quality are as good as anything Ive ever owned. You cant go wrong with the Silverado.

Great truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By JeffH07 - August 3 - 10:56 pmIve owned 6 Silverados over the last 15 years. this truck has been one of the best I owned. A lot of room for the kids, and very smooth ride. This truck had one problem that would not go away even after four visits to the dealership, a rattle in the steering column. The only reason that Im trading this in is to get a 1500HD to pull our new RV. Also all my brothers and my brother-in- laws are ford pickup guys but Id rather drive a truck than a pickup.

Best truck ever... - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By kleinrider - July 14 - 10:00 amAbsolutely love the truck, when first purchased, had a small squeak on passenger side rear door, but it went away. Truck is now very quiet inside. The 5.3 V-8 has plenty of power to do anything you will want to, short of pulling a house off of its foundation. (Have to try that some time...hmmm) Very smooth ride, slightly unstable in a rolling bumpy turn, but otherwise perfect. I test drove the Dodge and Ford and they just could not compare with the Chevys features, (heated seats, curb view assist mirrors, dual climate control, XM radio, OnStar, etc, etc. I love this truck.

Silverado Clunker - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By LA Watts - July 2 - 10:00 amThis is a good looking vehicle but the constant clunking is very annoying. GM says that it is normal due to torque buildup between transmission and transfer case. They also say they have changed the transmission for 2005 model to eliminate the problem. They offer an extended warranty for free but I already have it. They sent an engineer out to drive it and he reported a definite problem but they still claim that it is normal. Why wont they stand behind their vehicle and repair the problem . Very unhappy with GM over this vehicle.

Finally a real SS - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By red64chevelle - June 12 - 2:00 amLet me start by saying,"I love my Silverado SS." It has all the power I could want, great style, and has as nice of an interior that I would want in a truck. The milage is kinda poor (12-15mpg range) but the power and stability provided between the 345hp and the All wheel drive more than makeup for it.
