My Prizm - 2001 Chevrolet Prizm
By Beth - June 24 - 7:05 amI have had my car for seven years and only have had to replace one sensor and that was last week. I have kept up the maintenance regularly and just replaced the front brake pads last month. I drive it almost only in town and have 46K miles on it. Overall, it has been a good reliable car.

Nice family car - 2001 Chevrolet Prizm
By Anita - May 31 - 8:04 amHavent had any real problems. I have had my car for three years and the only thing I have had to do is oil changes and get new tires. Although my check engine light is on (not sure why) I bought my car with only 36,000miles on it and am just getting ready to do a tune up on it. Reliable car.

Love my Prizm! - 2002 Chevrolet Prizm
By Przmlvr - April 17 - 8:20 pmThis Chevy Prizm was my first car. Im just 16 but the quality of the car is amazing. The car is mainly quiet when driving and is easy to maintain. I bought the car when it had 50,000 miles and have had virtually no problems. The Prizm has cruise, power everything, automatic lights, with a 3 speed automatic. The car handles the turns well and has just enough power to travel the hills and highways. Overall a good car.

Reliable and Practical - 2001 Chevrolet Prizm
By E. Sears - February 23 - 8:42 amI did lots of research before I bought this car, and it paid off. As many probably know, its basically a Corolla with a Chevy emblem slapped on it -it has the same great reliability as a Toyota but is significantly cheaper. I own the 5-spd manual, which accelerates reasonably well and gets good gas mileage. There have been no problems with this vehicle. All Ive had to do was regular maintenance. This is a basic economy car, so if youre looking for excitement and luxury, look elsewhere. That said, it is a reasonably comfortable ride, but the back is lacking leg space. I would highly recommend getting the manual transmission if you want improved gas mileage and quicker acceleration.

Some unexpected problems - 2000 Chevrolet Prizm
By Danielle - February 22 - 6:41 pmThis car was purchased new, but always burned engine oil too rapidly, and became quicker over time so I must carry oil with me. The front end alignment pulls to the right and noone can seem to fix it. 3 years ago (summer of 2005) A/C broke. I had to buy a new A/C unit which works so much better than the one the car originally came with. In November 2006 with just over 100,000 miles on the car, the catalytic converter went out - Major Bucks to fix this, and required for DMV renewal. After passing smog, only months later the check engine light is on again meaning I cannot register it this year unless it gets repaired again! Needless to say - time to buy a new car.

Great car - 2001 Chevrolet Prizm
By HC - February 14 - 8:08 pmI have owned my 2001 Prizm for almost four months and all I can say is it has been a great car so far. I drive it every day, 20 miles to school, about the same to work, 7 days a week and it has been very reliable. The fuel economy is the best. I also love the 5 speed manual transmission in mine. It maneuvers nicely and is just the right size for a single college student girl IMO. I recently totaled my Prizm, but bought it back because I love it. I have to say that the quality of the manufacturing is excellent. My prizm was rammed into the side by a mini van and the only damage was cosmetic. Neither frame nor engine were affected at all. The car keeps on ticking! Great car IMO!

A great bet - 2001 Chevrolet Prizm
By Luke - January 8 - 2:21 pmAlthough not the most stylish or fast, this is truly a reliable car. First one that I bought and owned, I havent had a major problem after 60,000 miles of driving. The only problems were a burnt out light bulb in the dash, and a little leaking brake fluid now that my brakes are getting to the point of needing replacement. It handles fairly well in the snow with the cooper tires on it. The side air bags give it a good safety rating, and the overdrive on the Lsi means great gas mileage. I know theres a Chevy emblem on the front but theres "Toyota Corolla" printed on the gas cap ) Its just a good, solid car.

Supe Reliable Car! - 1998 Chevrolet Prizm
By SUPER RELIABLE CAR - October 14 - 9:24 pmBought this car new. This car has given me over 265,000 miles of nearly trouble free service—what more can you ask of a car? The only things Ive replaced other than regular maintenance are the a/c condenser at 175,000 and an exhaust part connected to catalytic converter and radio. As well as 3 out of 4 door handles. This car has a 5-speed manual with the original clutch and still gets 37 mpg on the highway at average speed of 80 mph!

Reliable Car - 1998 Chevrolet Prizm
By Andy - September 8 - 1:19 pmI enjoy driving my Prizm. Have only performed routine maintenance like tires and brakes in the two years since purchasing. Paid $3,500 for the car and still books around same price over two years later.

113,000 Miles and Going - 1998 Chevrolet Prizm
By DMR - September 1 - 9:19 pmPrizm was a Corrola made at the GM/Toyota NUMMI j/v in Long Beach, CA. It depreciates faster because it doesnt have the Toyota nameplate. Still quality: thats why I got it - and the decision paid off. I bought my 1998 Prizm LSI from Hertz for $9k in May 2001 with 28,000 miles on it. Biggest repair was A/C for ~$1500. The inside driver door handle breaks reliably every two years - thats the GM contribution. Passenger window motor needed replacing. Replaced the hose for power steering today. But, really, these repairs are not out of line for 90k of driving. With all that, it runs fine, is in good shape, gives me 28 mpg. 200k? Ill write a another review if we get there.
