  • A first year release? - 2002 Chevrolet Prizm

Needed a car, couldnt pass up the $5k rebates for the last model year. Ordered silver, surprised me with red (changes colors in different light) :) Overall its been a dependable fuel efficient car. Great hwy car and efficiency. Invokes little passion but does its job well. Oil changes and maintenance are a snap - 1st winter - engine hammered at startup- found out local chain was putting in 10w-30, now I chnge it and use 5w-30, makes a big diff! Powertrain still feels bulletproof, but trim (interior door panels, carpet, paint) seem decontented compared to past 2 Prizms - hopefully Toyota has reversed this - feels like a 1st yr release because of it - no real problems to report at 40k.

  • Zippy Car - 2002 Chevrolet Prizm

We bought this car after 2 years of searching for a car that wouldnt aggravate my bad back. This car was perfect. My husband is 62" and he loves the car too. Two or three days after we bought the car, however, we found water in the trunk. The dealer found that water was coming in through both taillights. Since they fixed it weve had no more leaks. I would highly recommend this car. It has good back support, good gas mileage, handles very well, and is fun to drive. The high ratings on this car are well deserved. It is an American version of the Toyota Corolla but cheaper in price. Took the head rests off the back seats for better visibility.

Excellent value for a run-about/commuter. It is like other Toyotas, reliable, but hardly inspiring. Going with a 5 speed manual helps, some.

  • Best Used Car - 2002 Chevrolet Prizm

Best used car I ever owned. A steal at current prices. Nice ones can be had with reasonable mileage for uner $7500. Last year ever made, I wish Chevy and Toyota still offered them. (Its a Corolla). Id buy a brand new one if available today. But no, have to go with the 2002.

  • Great Deal - 2001 Chevrolet Prizm

We have had no trouble with this car. It was a one-owner lease, bought by the dealer for sale. The price was quite competitive. We are very pleased with all aspects of the car.

  • Good Car - 2001 Chevrolet Prizm

I bought this car for only $2,600 at a reputable local dealership. Its not new, the check engine light is on, but it runs/drives good. However, it seems to be getting poor gas mileage, and I still have to figure out why (has gone through almost 1/2 a tank of gas while only having gone 130 miles). I do mostly highway driving so this was quite surprising as I was expecting the rated 30 MPG city/40 MPG hwy as it has the 4-speed auto. I was impressed with the near-perfect reliability rating from consumer reports for this year/model. The only problem Ive had besides fuel economy is that when the A/C is running the engine sometimes idles erratically, not sure why.

  • One of the best small cars - 1999 Chevrolet Prizm
    By -

I was surprised when I first drove this car. For a 1.8L 120hp this thing sure has some pep to it. It is fun to drive, economical and super reliable! The dealership said they repaired the drivers side door handle once and it just broke again, so the door handles are super cheap. The A/C is cold and cools the car fast. It handles well, and is highly recommeded to all! Too bad they stopped making it!

  • Reliable Cutie - 1999 Chevrolet Prizm

I needed a car to get me from point A to point B. My Prizm has a nice design, and is pretty quick with a Japanese engine and drivetrain. I thank Chevy for the decision. Best idea ever--no problems. Only changing oil was enough.

  • Gives me what I have expected and more - 1999 Chevrolet Prizm

This car is absolutely the best. Reliable, with enough quickness and a nice design (better than his sister Corolla). For a mid-size sedan, it gives what you expect. There are some small design details, but they dont matter. I think Corolla saw that market is going to Prizm, than decided not to give the engine and drivetrain to Chevy. And they stopped the line after 02. How sad.

  • I love my Prizm! - 2002 Chevrolet Prizm
    By -

I bought a used 2002 Prizm (with 19000 miles on it at the time) in 2003. I have never had a single problem during my cross country drives, long work commutes or short errand drives. It starts up perfectly and held up remarkable well when I slid on some ice and nailed a parked car at about 30 mph. It had only a crack in the fron bumper. Reliable is what I was looking for and that is just what I got. I am very happy with my car and see no reason to get anything else.
