Overview & Reviews
This year the SS badge is reserved for the supercharged Monte Carlo; last year's non-supercharged SS is now the LT. The Competition Yellow Sport Appearance, Dale Earnhardt "Intimidator" Special Edition and Dale Earnhardt Jr. packages are no longer available, nor are body side moldings and the deck lid lock cylinder. OnStar is now standard equipment on all models.
- Spacious interior, low sticker price, strong acceleration with supercharged V6.
- Mediocre performance on non-supercharged models, bland interior with cheap materials, no passenger side-impact airbag, ABS not standard.

The best car Ive ever had - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By dgingeri - June 8 - 4:46 amThis car is the best car Ive had, and even better than most Ive ridden in. Awesome styling. This car looks both strong and sleek, truly the return of the muscle car. Better milage and more power than my last car, and I get to keep the air conditioning on. Leave it off if you want the better gas mileage, but it does degrade the power and mileage

SS - Flashback to Younger Years - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Rex Racer - April 10 - 10:00 amAs a middle aged American male, I have fond memories of my teen aged years. Growing up with Mustangs, Camaros, and Firebirds (Corvettes were not in our price range), I always admire the 2- door sport/performance cars. Earlier this year, I aquired a Monte Carlo SS Supercharged vehicle. Although it doesnt have the rumble of my past vehicles, it has the same get-up-and-go with greatly improved dependability. Thanks Chevy!

The Monte - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Adam Higdon - March 17 - 1:13 pmThe Monte Carlo is a very exciting, fun to drive vehicle, with the style, fuel economy, and reliablity that everyone should have. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone interested in a stylish, sporty coupe.

Lemone - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Tyler - February 24 - 2:30 amI have owned the car less than 6 months and had a tie rod end go out, the shifter break, the lights will occasionally turn off and then back on - on a dark night, the tranny will go to a super stall mode on occasion, CV axle go bad. There is a lot of road and door-side noise (from poor manufacturing - sealing). Other than that... it gets approximately 28 MPG AVG. The motor has a little bit of spunk to it, and a high end speed is very comfortable, and you dont feel like your losing control of the vehicle. 60-85 feels relatively the same, 85 - top some extra noise, but very controllable. Brakes are very responsive. Any speed over 60 MPH, and gas mileage drops dramatically though.

Dissapointment - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By stup62 - August 17 - 7:23 amHave owned this car since July, 2005. Am very disappointed with Chevy. So much so, I am switching brands. I have had Chevys all my life, but never owned a piece of junk like this car. Have had the battery replaced, the power steering pump and belt replaced the steering shaft replaced, (now needs it again), the drivers side seatbelt replaced. Replaced the junk goodyear tires at 24,000 miles, were wore down to the tread bars. Not happy with this car. Wouldnt recommend Chevy to anybody.

Awesome car! - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Alex Stevenson - March 30 - 2:00 amI bought this car as a Certified Used Vehicle from Lithia in Alaska. From the sticker in the trunk and how it got shipped around, with a lack of winterization, I determined it was a rental until its 27000 miles, then was sent around to be sold. Its currently at 58000 miles. The car is great. I love how it doesnt feel cheaply built, I love how the doors are heavy, as with the rest of the car. It sticks to pavement with the greatest of ease. I bought Triple Tread tires for it, and it gets around well in the winters with ice, but Im sure with Blizzaks it would be a tank. However, its not really a winter car in that respect. The power on the LS isnt that great, and the LS cant be chipped.

Tony Stewart SS is a keeper - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Bob Hendrichs - January 21 - 8:00 amI bought my Tony Stewart 2005 SS a year and a half ago. I have had several people offer me more than I paid for it. This car is a keeper. If you have one hang on to it. It will be a collectable. What a sweet ride.

2005 Monte Carlo LT - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Fred - August 29 - 11:33 pmTraded a 2003 Monte Carlo SS for this 2005 Monte Carlo LT. Equipped with the same options. But the fuel mileage is less than the old car (average highway mileage is (2003) 26.8 vs. (2005) 23.5). Other than that its a great car.

Great American Car - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By nutsovernascar - May 2 - 5:13 pmA very well built, solid car. Great ride. Excellent fuel mileage. Comfort and features you would expect in a $30K car at $22K. It has a large trunk space, and the feel of a full size car with sports car handling.
