Overview & Reviews
Based on the 2004 Chevy Malibu, the Malibu Maxx is an all-new vehicle. A cross between a sedan and a wagon, it's designed to give midsize car buyers a little more space so that they don't have to resort to an SUV.
- Hatchback configuration makes for easy loading, spacious interior with adjustable rear seats, plenty of safety and convenience features, innovative remote start feature, standard V6.
- Lackluster interior, less cargo space than true wagons or SUVs.

Maxxed Out - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By maxxowner48301 - January 15 - 9:43 amI love my Malibu Maxx. It is the first car I have ever purchased, and one of the best decisions I have made. After 1 year and 20,000 miles, I have not had one problem with the car. The car has great pickup, even at highway speeds. I have had it up around 120mph, and the car didnt rattle or feel like it was going to fall apart at all. It was very smooth and comfortable. I would tell everyone to get a Maxx, except that then the market would be flooded with them lowering my value. The Maxx will begin the resurgence of General Motors.

I LOVE my Maxx! - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By HeatherJ - January 9 - 7:20 amI bought my Maxx LT used with almost 90,000 miles on it. I knew I wanted this car, & I researched it & found a great deal at a local car lot. Since buying it I have had very little trouble. Replaced the thermostat within the first few months & I had to replace something with the AC & it was over $500, but that is it! Sometimes the hatch wont open, but I have figured out a few tricks to get it to work. I take my car camping, it is used for road trips, I drive in the snow- I can do anything! Everyone always loves my car once they have been it. My best friend went & bought a Maxx too- but hers is newer than mine and a LS. She likes my 04 LT Maxx better!

I love My Maxx - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By mediagrl - January 2 - 10:00 amI just purchased my 2004 Malibu Maxx LT last week. A lot of features that are found on luxury sedans came standard on the LT; heated/power leather seats, remote start, rear sky light, and lots of safety features. The Maxx shares the Epsilon platform with the Saab 9-3 so it has a tight, tuned feel. The 210 HP-V6 engine gives the Maxx some power off the line.

A lot of car for the money... - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By szerfas - January 2 - 10:00 amWe replaced our 98 Malibu with this new Maxx. There is an impressive amount of car here for the money when combined with all the rebate. This car is very quiet, responsive and powerful. The construction of this car is much more solid then anything GM we have seen before. Our biggest complaint is some initialy quality issues. We had a squeaky lift gate (dealer has not fixed), and an innacurate gas gage (dealer fixed by replacing tank). I find the reviews including edmunds dont give enough credit to the power with great gas mileage on REGULAR fuel, with the cost of gas very important to us. There are a lot of good ideas in this car and amazing amount of technology.

An update on My Maxxy - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By Sean 418 - December 9 - 5:33 pmPeople write about their car generally within the first few months of ownership. I had written about this car previously. Well and update, I have had the car 4 years and love it. The head rest is a little stiff unlike my 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix or 2000 Olds Intrigue, but I love this vehicle. It has excellent acceleration. Has held up very well. I am very pleased with my purchase, still 4 years later.

First day 700 miles - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By occking - December 2 - 10:00 amLove this car. After having 2003 Buick RVD for months (which I hated mainly cause it was so underpowered & never got great gas mileage) amd Acura MDX for 2 years and Lexus RX300 for 2 years, never thought I would spend as little as $24,000 (plus 0 percent financing) for a car with all of the features I need. Drove 700 miles in first day, averaged 28.5 per gallon which is pretty good for a brand new vehicle

Maxxy is a gem - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By Sean 418 - October 4 - 10:43 amThis is an excellent car. I really purchased it for my parents. It was for Mothers day. It was a 2004 leftover. There were quite a few. What a shame they are not selling. If they were labeled "Toyota, Nissan, Honda or Hyundai they would be flying out of the dealers lots. Great performing car. First car I have had with a dvd player which hardly gets used. Love the visiablity. Great buy. I highly recommend this car. It is my 2nd Malibu. Love the sun roof and vista roof . Its like a old Olds Vista Cruiser. Wish I had the Sirius instead of XM. Like the information center. Hatchback is useful. Excellent buy

Sleeper Chevy - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By Nameless - September 6 - 2:00 amJust picked up the car. Roughly 500 mi on it now. It has excellent power with great fuel economy. We got the LT loaded with nearly every option including DVD. The kids love it. (My daughter especially likes the "warm bottom seats", my son the DVD) This car is a "sleeper". Kind of boring on the outside but absolutely packed with every possible feature on the inside. The Malibu will be my wifes car. She believes it has all the features of her previous Honda Accord with none of the negatives. She is also more concerned with function over style and in pure functionality this car shines well above the others in the mid-size "pack"
