Overview & Reviews
Based on the 2004 Chevy Malibu, the Malibu Maxx is an all-new vehicle. A cross between a sedan and a wagon, it's designed to give midsize car buyers a little more space so that they don't have to resort to an SUV.
- Hatchback configuration makes for easy loading, spacious interior with adjustable rear seats, plenty of safety and convenience features, innovative remote start feature, standard V6.
- Lackluster interior, less cargo space than true wagons or SUVs.

Must have stood in the lemon line - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By Mike of Va. - June 22 - 10:03 pmI love the style, handling, and fuel mileage[30.9] but Ive had nothing but trouble with it. Pedals wouldnt move up or down. Fuel cap light on. Transmission chain adjusted? Rear hatch release didnt have safety pull on it and latch wouldnt release. Some type of poping noise when making slow turns. And now with 111,816 miles on it, the transmission has failed. If you are wondering I take care of my stuff so no jackrabbit starts or pulling/pushing with this car.

Malibu Maxx - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By GBahnUT - January 9 - 1:16 pmThis vehicle is a nice design with many great features. The build quality is suspect since it has numerous rattles all over.

Its fun again - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By firstchevyguy - August 10 - 2:00 amBought the LT loaded and its hard to believe this is a Chevy. With much research, I got more bang for the buck in this automobile than I could get with Mitsu, Nissan, Honda,VW or Chrysler. It is put together well, responsive (although no rubber burner) and comes with important safety features like the side air curtains.

By SSCHMITT - August 4 - 10:00 amITs a nice car for the money. It rides smooth and is peppy not fast but has enough power. Interior needs some work but overall I like it nice buy. I have 1055 miles on mine.

I love my 2004 MAXX - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By GypsieRose - April 30 - 4:13 amI had been driving Saabs for years before I bought this Maxx. I had also owned Mercedes, Corvette, Tahoe, Cadillac and Chryslers. This Maxx is the perfect car for me at 62. I am 4ft 8in tall and the adjustable pedals and steering wheel afforded me to drive for the first time in many years without a cushion and being forced up against the steering wheel. The mileage on freeway is avg 37mpg! Great handling. Kicks butt when you punch it to pass, cruises at 70 like a dream. I love the hatchback for hauling stuff. All are comfortable in seats/roomy. The price was affordable. Next time I will get leather heated seats. I love the lines. Not one hiccup yet! I love this car!

Disappointing - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By Bill - December 22 - 5:06 pmBought after 2005 models introduced and got an excellent price. Loved it for the 1st couple of years until things started to fail. CD player failed on way home from the dealership. Replaced, but failed again in 2 years. Power steering and drivers seat frame failed. Although same steering failures covered under extended warranty for some VINs, Chevy made us pay for more than half of cost. Rear seat reclining levers broke, fuse problems, both remote controls broke.

Best car Ive ever owned - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By Larry - February 8 - 7:20 pmIm 78 an owned many cars in my lifetime. This is the best handling car ever. I love the tracking, all the mechanical and innovative features, especially the remote start in the winter and in the summer. It heats the car quickly in wintertime and cools it down in the hot summer days as well. The wide opening doors were helpful in the back to assist my wife (who had alzheimers) to get in the car. Just a great car!

We like it! - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
By CPTBK124 - January 9 - 10:00 amWe traded our 2003 Ford Expedition for the Maxx for better fuel mileage. After driving the Maxx for almost 12,000 miles; our family enjoys the ride, comfort and most importantly the fuel economy. We still miss the Expedition, but we are reminded we made the right choice when we are at the pump.
