Nice car - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By zees - July 2 - 2:00 amIntake manifold gaskets went at 66000. Apparantley the Chevy and others now use plastics gaskets for v6 and v8s. Maybe they will get it right in another ten years. Also fuel sendign unit broke, cost $880 at dealer to fix. Only good news is next time Chevy pays for the parts (lifetime warranty on replacement parts) But the car has been more reliable than my previous Accord.

Good all-around - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By mikeal1913 - May 15 - 2:00 amLuminas have been very good to me. This is a dependable, low maintenance cost car. Both Luminas Ive owned have gotten great gas mileage considering their size. My 4 cyl. Lumina got about 30 and this 6 cyl. gets 24. Powerful, smooth ride, good looks.

One of the Best - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By IceHouse - May 7 - 2:00 amThis is a very low-maintenance vehicle with a nice ride - great traction- control system and many nice features. I have had almost no problems with the vehicle and only wish they were still making them.

My Lumina Experience - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By It sucks yall - February 6 - 2:00 amI love it! It has the power to pass and the space to seat 6 all in a tidy little almost art deco package that looks much much better than the previous models.

Corsica=The sequel - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By Daveyboy - January 1 - 2:00 amThis car is not a car that is for a family of more than 4. Chevy has not figured out that car seats do not sit well in the back seat, in particularly the middle. At 12$ a pop for the platinum spark plugs, that is not a cheap fixer either. Interior is very cheaply put together. Why wont the window visor clips stay in place? Sqeaks and rattles. Not room for anything inside. This is not yesterdays Chevy. Being on a limited income, Im stuck with this sled.

Nice vehicle but unreliable - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By AJ1 - December 31 - 2:00 amThe Lumina LS has a smooth ride, handles well, and looks good. It takes alot of pressure to brake, especially if you need to do so quickly. Great gas mileage for a V6 mid-sized sedan. The real issue with this Chevy is reliability. The vehicle only comes with a 3 yr/36000 mile warranty. A couple months after mine expired the trouble started: the fuel pump died once, a gasket went bad, a wheel bearing need replacing, and more. Ive had three repairs of $1000+ and one of almost $500 - all in the last three years, between 36000 and 70000 miles. This has discouraged me from EVER buying a GM vehicle again.

Better than I expected - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By WalterJ - November 30 - 2:00 amThis was a corporate fleet car I bought from a dealer. It had 57000 miles and now has 97000. Its amazing to me that the resale price is so low. This is the first car I think Ill take the distance. Best highway car I ever had. Very reliable.

Reliable Car - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By GM - November 22 - 2:00 amVery nice car, Ive bought the car new 5 years ago and it required no repairs, except oil and tires. Id definetly reccommend it if you are looking for a fairly cheap midsize car that has some of the best american engineering.

A Dependable Ride - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By vikki - November 11 - 2:00 amI have had my Lumina for three years, having bought it new. Except for an alternator at 55,000 miles and routine maintenance, I havent had to do a thing.Solid road car, I put on a lot of miles per year. My daughter is getting this one for going back and forth to college while I buy another Lumina with lower miles. I wish they would rethink discontinuing this model--its the best car Ive ever owned.
