Minor problems, except that they recently discovered a gasket leak on the engine that is time consuming to repair, about $800 for the estimate. Other than that this vehicle has run great with few minor problems.

  • Fantastic Car - 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

Bought the car new in 99 and havent had a single mechanical problem. The LTZ model has plenty of power due to the 200 HP 3.8L engine (same as Grand Prix GT). Handling is very good for a modestly priced sedan. Body roll is minimal in most corners. Interior is exceptionally quiet due to double sealed doors. Excellent car. GM made a mistake by stopping production.

I bought this car with 56000 miles on it. It is a good family-size sedan, quite reliable and comfortable. The only strange thing that the battery is hidden deep inside and to replace it you need special wrenches and about 1 hour of work. This is strange because there is a plenty of place under the hood and the battery could place in a top position for better handling like in most other cars

  • I love this car - 1991 Chevrolet Lumina

I have had my Lumina for five years and it runs great. When it hit 100,000 miles, I had to have some work done on it but after that there were no problems. In 2002, the air conditioner broke and I decided to sell it because I live in Florida. It now has 140,000 miles and is running great. I will miss it.

  • OK car, bad brakes - 1991 Chevrolet Lumina
    By -

I bought this car 3 years ago and have had several problems. First, the rear brakes have had to be fixed numerous times, and still arent right. But thats common for this car. I had to replace radiator when power steering pump blew up. It had a coolant system leak twice, had to replace intake manifold, and replace fuel pump and lines all in 3 years. But handles great with the 3.1L, has great visibility, and the AC and heating systems are the best Ive ever experienced. AC will freeze you to death in 2 minutes!

  • Great Car - 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

I own the LTZ model and this car is great. The body styling is smooth and the lines of the car blend nicely. The ride could be a little more stiff but stoch suspension feels just fine. I highly recommend this car. The interior is smooth and the seats are comfortable. The pickup is great. Overall this is a good, reliable car.

  • OK Dont LUV it - 1993 Chevrolet Lumina

Typical heavy domestic car ride not bad though. Roomy. Typical Chevy interior, rattles too much cheap plastic. Not solid but competent ride. Good engine (3.1 V6), good acceleration.

  • Great car!!! - 1991 Chevrolet Lumina

I work at a used car dealership and Luminas are by far the best cars out there. I own a 91 Lumina with the 3.1 package and it is fantastic. My dad bought it in 93 with 30,000 miles on it and now its up to 175,000. Weve never had any major repair that needed to be done...just the usual parts that wear out, brakes, struts, tires, ect. Its been in three major acidents and its still running strong. Although weve had to replace the calipers is the back about 5 times there have been no problems with anything. And once youve done the calipers twice you remember how to do them.
