We put 225000 miles on the car in 5 years time and only had one major problem (the transmission required an overhaul) at 201000 miles. Unfortunately, the rebuild wasnt nerarly as good as the original. If you buy one of these, expect to change an alternator every 75000, a water pump every 100000, and a heater core every 125000 miles. The engine has only had valve cover gaskets. The car almost has 300000 miles on it now, so were planning on replacing it because the body isnt quite as rigid as it used to be.

Reliable car - bought it used with 28,000 miles and it now has 95,000. Other than normal maintenance, weve only had to replace the A/C compressor this summer (we live in a hot climate). Great car for the $$$

I bought this car in 1999 with 60K on it. It has been a great car with minimal repairs. I have had the alternator replaced at 80K, the catalytic convertor replaced at 105K, and the water pump just today at 125K. Total repairs were around $550-$600, which is not too bad considering the 65K Ive put on the car over 3 years and you can buy these cars for well under 1/2 the new price just 2-3 years old. Pretty smooth ride, lacks acceleration at times, but is very reliable.

  • Best Deal Ive Seen - 1993 Chevrolet Lumina

Oh man, when i saw this car sitting out in this guys driveway with a for sell sign i was thinking this is a relatively new car (about in the 1997 range), but it turns out to be a 93. i bought it thinking i would resell it, but when i started driving the car i was loving it more and more. this thing has a dual cam v6 that pumps out more horsepower than most 2002 sports cars! the brakes and transmission are great and the reliability of this car is flawless so far.

Bought this car with 12k miles in spring of 94. It now has over 167k miles. This car took every bit of abuse I gave it. Body held up for as long as it could and longer than expected living in the "rust belt". Interior is still fresh and firm. Other than the notorious GM brake problem...this car has been solid. Radiator went at 140k (rust related). Battery went at 150k. Stuts at 90k. Rear suspension is now officially shot, bushings are gone (150k). Still runs like a top!

  • Great car for the price - 1996 Chevrolet Lumina

I bought my Lumina at an auto auction, and have been very pleased with it. I did have to replace the alternator on it, but for the price I paid (less than $6k for a 4 year old car with under 40k miles), I dont think that was so bad.

And theyre good enough for the police! This is my 2nd Lumina since 98 -- & I drive the H**L out of my cars. The first Lumina had 75000 miles on it when it was wrecked this one has 91,000 & still going strong! No major maintainence problems with either one -- just routine brake maintainence, oil changes, etc. As a matter of fact, I just had the FIRST tuneup done on this LTZ in June -- the car had 86000 miles on it then!!

  • THE BEST! - 1995 Chevrolet Lumina

THIS IS THE BEST CAR I EVER OWNED! I WAS TOLD THAT IT RODE BETTER THAN A CHRYSLER LHS BY THE LHS OWNER HIMSELF. IT WAS 6000 DOLLARS CHEAPER AT THE TIME. THE TRACTION CONTROL IS FANTASTIC IN THE BAD WEATHER. IM ONLY SORRY THAT CHEVY STOPPED MAKING THEM. I HOPE THEY START UP AGAIN. NOT A BIT OF TROUBLE IN 7 YEARS!
