  • Good, reliable car - 1990 Chevrolet Lumina
    By -

Bought the car used in 95 with 63K miles. Had a new 3.1L engine put in due to factory recall that same year. Only routine maintenance was needed. The life of the brakes may have been the only negative, however it wasnt too bad. Got me through college and the first 6 years after graduation.

  • Expect High Maint. - 1995 Chevrolet Lumina

I purchased my Lumina new and have been the only owner. My wife uses it to do small commutes. My car has 49,945 miles. I have replaced the engine once, defective design GM knows about but could care less about customers to admit or repair. My cost $2,000. Brakes 4 sets in 7 years, again poor design GM knows about but doesnt care. 3 sets of tires and 2 exhaust systems. If you can avoid the Lumina DO IT.

  • Luxury Sport - 1994 Chevrolet Lumina

I had my Lumina Euro for 4 years. I put 75K miles on & didnt have to put much into it. Gas mileage was 30 mpg. The ride was smooth & dependable. I felt very comfortable & safe. The instrument panel for the A/C and radio was far away. I found the parts to be expensive. Expect to replace the breaks every year. If one caliper hangs up replace all calipers at the same time & dont forget to disconnect the battery after the calipers have been replaced or the computer will think you still have the old calipers on. Be aware that on my particular car the ABS never worked right. I would recommend this car for a first car. I loved it.

  • never a problem - 1990 Chevrolet Lumina

Of all the years Ive drove this car I never had any major problems. Ive had the fuel pump go but that was all. The car is roomy, comfortable and has an good trunk size.

  • Inexpensive Fun - 1999 Chevrolet Lumina
    By -

I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a fun car to drive at a moderate price. The 3.8 V-6 is plenty of power and the interior is chock full of features. I paid $6000 for a 99 w/ 80,000 miles on it. High miles, but have only had to replace the alternator and it has 102,000 miles now. I did routine maintenance (plugs, wires, fuel filter, serpentine belt, etc), but that all just normal

  • A good used car! - 1995 Chevrolet Lumina
    By -

I bought the 95 std lumina in 2000. Since then the only money I have had to put into this car was for new tires. Ive left home for college and my car sits outside unused for long periods of time, even in the cold and it still starts easily every single time. It gets pretty good gas milieage for the size of it. While all my friends have newer cars with less miles on them, they still are having to spend thousands of dollars on repairs for their cars, while my old, yet trusty lumina is always there to give them rides while their cars are in the shop. The only problem I have had with the car are the dashboard lights.

This is an overall good car

  • Corsica=The sequel - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina

This car is not a car that is for a family of more than 4. Chevy has not figured out that car seats do not sit well in the back seat, in particularly the middle. At 12$ a pop for the platinum spark plugs, that is not a cheap fixer either. Interior is very cheaply put together. Why wont the window visor clips stay in place? Sqeaks and rattles. Not room for anything inside. This is not yesterdays Chevy. Being on a limited income, Im stuck with this sled.

  • Nice vehicle but unreliable - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
    By -

The Lumina LS has a smooth ride, handles well, and looks good. It takes alot of pressure to brake, especially if you need to do so quickly. Great gas mileage for a V6 mid-sized sedan. The real issue with this Chevy is reliability. The vehicle only comes with a 3 yr/36000 mile warranty. A couple months after mine expired the trouble started: the fuel pump died once, a gasket went bad, a wheel bearing need replacing, and more. Ive had three repairs of $1000+ and one of almost $500 - all in the last three years, between 36000 and 70000 miles. This has discouraged me from EVER buying a GM vehicle again.
