  • Fuel Efficient - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina

This car was purchased used with about 24k miles and currently has about 96k. This has been a very fuel efficient car , better than many smaller cars. Has been pretty reliable (have replaced alternator at about 36k, replaced water pump at 75k and had intake manifold gasket replaced under warranty at about 73k).The only other items replaced have been normal wear items (brakes, hoses, belts, etc).

I bought this car in Sept. 05, nice clean car good on reliability. Had to replace rotors, brakes, water pump, accelorator sensor soo far...Over all car drives nice and handles great. Bad idea on cup holder position! But it works....Car currently has 155,400 miles.

  • Its a toss up - 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

I inherited this car from my mom after I wrecked mine. The compressor and condensor went out after only two years of ownership. Was told it would be cheaper to replace the car than fix it. The fuel guage stopped working after about two years. The ash tray broke off, two of the air vents are broken, both cup holders are broken, the passenger visor is broken and after more than an hour or two the seats become extremely uncomfortable. However, the car has almost 140,000 miles on it and no major mechanical work has had to be done. I would suggest that you weigh whats important to you in a car before you buy one of these.

  • Excellent car - 1991 Chevrolet Lumina

I bought my car off a neighbor of mine who wanted to by a pickup and needed a little extra than what the dealer wanted to give for a trade in. I thought the car had a lot of miles on it. I knew the owner had taken very good care of the car. I have never had any trouble with it and it now has over 207000 miles on the original odometer. My Lumina was well worth the purchace.

  • My First Car - 1994 Chevrolet Lumina

While the car has had the problems of any used car, it is a rather enjoyable car. One of my best friends had the Z34 as his first so we spend alot of time talking about the cars. While not what I had thought I would own for a first car all in all it is not bad for something I had to buy to get to a job. The car is American made which makes all the diffrence to me.

  • Probably saved my life - 1996 Chevrolet Lumina

Hit a car head on @ 70 mph bashed the right light and the rim was bent. I put a spare on, and drove her another 600 miles back home. The engine still works awesome, but the frame is a bit bent up. The engine on this girl is wonderfully reliable, but problems I had included brakes, A/C, stupid cupholders, and an alternator (its a Chevy). If you buy from the right person, this car is truly a great machine, hands down. Good mileage, drove cross country several times with her great handling, good speed. If you buy from some stupid teen or shady dealer, youll have problems like any other car, I suppose. I have a bit over 100k on it, and it is still going strong, in spite of the accident I had.

  • One of the worst enginered cars - 1993 Chevrolet Lumina

Mine died at around 75K miles. The transmission slipped, the heads warpped, and boom, the whole thing froze. All in all, it was a basic car, nothing ever troubled me except the brakes, which were entirely replaced 4 times. The rotor design was so poor that I managed to break the rotor from the spindle and that is very rare.

  • 1995 Lumina - a solid performer - 1995 Chevrolet Lumina

I acquired this car from the original buyer 4 years ago at 82,000 miles. It is an exceptionally roomy and comfortable car for the price, and has run well. Brakes only last about 40,000 mi. This year at 130,000 miles, it needed a major tuneup, spark plug replacement, and intake manifold gasket replacement. About half my miles are cross country, and it has been totally reliable.

  • Fun to drive, Love this car - 1998 Chevrolet Lumina

We purchased this car for the handling, horsepower and price. It had 25,000 miles on it at purchase. Weve owned it since 1999, with no problems except brakes. With the sport tires this car drives like a sports car. At $200 each for tires, I purchased the cheaper Aquatread tires, dont do it. We finally need a bigger vehicle, and my wife doesnt want to give it up. It has been a great car for two kids, with a big trunk and enough separation in the backseat to keep the kids reasonable distance apart (a little less fighting).

  • Love this car! - 1996 Chevrolet Lumina

I bought this car to drive in the winter. It had 106K on it. Look around - these cars are everywhere! It gets good mileage (about 25 mpg on my last trip traveling an average of 75 mph). Its not a sports car but the suspension is firm enough for a full size sedan. Problems: The A/C is not working, I have a bad sensor for the ABS and the front seat is worn out (heavy previous owner?) - nothing major. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives this car the highest rating in the offset crash test. How could I go wrong for $1550?
