  • Love my Lumina - 2001 Chevrolet Lumina

I have had this car for almost 5 years, the gas mileage on hiway for me is around 34 or 35 and city driving is around 25. I love my Lumina and have had very few problems with it. After all I bought it as an auction vehicle that was previously used for a rental company.

  • Best car Ive ever owned - 1998 Chevrolet Lumina

Ive always had cars that were poor mechanically. This car has been awesome. I have done nothing to the engine except replace the spark plugs and change the oil. I replaced the gas tank and general maintenance. Its comfortable to drive but now with 146000 miles on it, its starting to show its age. I dont get much power going up hills anymore. Im going to be sad to see her go. There wont be another one like it out there as trouble free as this was.

Car was essentially problem free till it had 120,000 miles on it then it required replacement of accessories. Engine and transmission was problem free other than valve cover gaskets started to leak at 70k. Limited passing power but gas mileage good. Plenty of headroom but could use more legroom. Nice large trunk. Good visability. Seats have almost no padding.

  • Keeps going and going - 1996 Chevrolet Lumina

This is the most reliable car Ive ever had. Have 100k on it and it still has factory battery, never needed any major repair, well has never needed any repair except for the intake gasket. Good on fuel for its class. GM should consider make more cheap reliable cars like the Lumina.

  • The Best Car of My Life - 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

The most comfortable, reliable car I have ever had. It was totaled in a car accident when somebody ran a red light and slammed into me. Otherwise I would still have my baby...It was big, smooth, powerful (!!!) AND fuel efficient. All pros and no cons!

  • It really isnt too good to be true - 1996 Chevrolet Lumina

We have done several long trips in our Lumina and it has performed well in all conditions, even out performed some SUVs on the slippery stuff. It has loads of room and good features for the price. After our first accident (being run off the road at 30 mph) we had to replace the intake gasket (probably going anyway )the preformance picked up like you wouldnt believe. I just got rear ended by a Wrangler (me 0 mph them 40 mph) and we have less damage than them, currently waiting to find out what the insurance company wants us to do but we are hoping to be able to keep it

  • Under rated car - 1998 Chevrolet Lumina

This is my fourth Lumina, 2 90s, one 95 and now the 98. They have all been great vehicles, very cheap to up keep as long as you maintain the vehicle properly, they are cheap to buy and find that they are more comfortable than most cars on the road, fuel mileage has been great with all of the vehicles, the interior is spacious but kind of bland but thats why the aftermarket world exists. I really dont like Chevrolet but this model name is the only one I will buy from them, its too bad they stopped making them in North America. If your buying the car with the intent to fix it up or modify it, it has a lot of parts available in the aftermarket but you do have to search for them.

  • Great car, reliable as ever! - 1998 Chevrolet Lumina
    By -

I own a 1998 Lumina sedan and it has been in my family since it was brand new. It is holding up nicely! It now has 180,000 miles on it and still starts right up and drives smoothly! Exterior is still in great condition as well. No major problems have occured yet with it, this whole time! Just the minor, cheap routine repairs. This 3.1L V6 is awesome. Too bad Chevy quit assembling the 1995-2000 generation of Montes and Luminas.

  • Boring but dependable - 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

This car isnt hot or racy. Its not a luxury car but it cleans up well and just keeps on running. Now that may not seem like a lot to some folks but if youre tired of trips back to the dealership then this is your kind of vehicle. Ive owned a Lumina for four years and have nothing bad to say about it. My next car will be a little more appealing to the eye but I just hope it can come close to the 99 Lumina as far as reliability.

  • Nickle and Dimed to Death - 1996 Chevrolet Lumina

I have owned a 1996 Lumina LS for the last 8yrs. I have replaced the following since purchasing. Water pump, alternator, fuel pump, driver- side power window motor, and ignition assembly. In addition the 3.1 V6 engine has a problem where the Intake manifold gasket fails every 30,000 miles. I have replaced this twice ($1100 each time). This item should be subject to a recall by GM but is not. I highly recommend you avoid this vehicle. You will spend a fortune on repairs.
