This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

We fell in love when we saw it on the internet. The first Chevy dealer we went to knew nothing about the HHR and told us they were new and that was about it.We decided to go to a different dealership. Walked onto the lot and found our beautiful HHR just off the truck, We could hardly wait to get it home.Ours has all the bells and whistle and we purchased a Lo-jack .added mud flaps and a bra.We took it on vacation and had a blast. People asked to sit in it and were amazde at the room it has.We have had it since 2/06 with only one problem with the power booster on the breaks. We are considering buying another HHR in the future,

  • Our HHR - Great Car! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

It was my wifes decision to buy this car. She purchased the 2006 Red Spring Edition package. As we also have a Trailblazer, I felt that she could have the HHR and Id keep driving the TB. Ive never been able to convince myself that I could get by with 4 cylinders having grown up in the muscle car age group. But, weve parked the TB in the garage and have driven the HHR 99% of the time! I was wrong about owning a 4 banger as this car has proven to me time and time again. Dont settle for the 2.2 engine, to sluggish! Buy the 2.4 with 175hp! It is quite zippy! Our HHR still has people turning their heads when we drive by and others stop us to ask questions about it. Buy one! Youll like it!

I have gotten nothing but compliments about my HHR. Being a Car Guy, I had been looking for an old car to restore. Didnt have to. I found the old style I was looking for in a brand new (had to be black) HHR. Once I test drove it, knew that I had to have one. Was disappointed when the one I was originally looking at got sold from under me. Got the next one off the truck (literally). I heard at the dealership that a lot of PT Cruiser owners were trading in their cars for new HHRs. I dont blame them. Thank you Chevrolet for thinking a little out of the box.

  • My Mob Car - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

We love this car. The design reminds me of the old style mob car and we get several looks and compliments whenever we are out. It runs wonderfully and the gas mileage is really good. We are getting about 30 miles a gallon. The inside is perfect for just going out and running errands, but is also great for hauling and the back trunk is perfect for traveling with your dog. I would recommend this car to anyone that is interested in it.

Great choice for a light utility hauler. Gets lots of notice/approval from other drivers. Its a fun little wagon. I transport boxes of training materials, projector screens, and other odd size cargo. The HHR is exactly what I need.

  • This is why I always end up with a GM - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Ive owned since June 2006. I drive approx 40,000km a year in an almost equal mix of city/highway and average about 8.1L/100KM or 28.9MPG which is fantastic. On the highway, cruise set to 110km/hr I get about 34MPG and consistently over 840km to a tank. The most Ive seen is 890. My car is the top level 2LT with all available options except OnStar. The 2.4L is really smooth, dont feel any vibration at idle or at traffic lights. It has a great MP3 player with Pioneer sound thats loud and clear, and is so technologically advanced. The driver info center is all configurable and programmable to your language and tastes. Remote start is great! So are the very warm heated seats.

The wife says it is "Zippy" but I like to keep the revs down and the MPG up (32 on the highway, 25 average). There are no lights in the glove box and I cannot turn on the dome light from the front. Also only one cup holder in the back & seating for 3.(!) Not near enough storage for stuff like CDs. Love having the 6disk MP3 player for *hours* of mucic. Moon roof is cool as is the little spoiler the wife had to have. Running boards get in the way when getting out though they look cool. (I think I would opt to not have them.) Very quiet ride and smoooth ride! Overall great car but needs more (better) storage solution.

  • First American Car Purchase - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

This is the first American car I have ever purchased and I am extremely happy with it. It drives and rides so smoothly and I took it on my first long trip recently. I have been getting great gas mileage, 30 to be exact.

I had to talk my wife into getting a new set of wheels. Cars never were her thing. Now, she cant wait to find an excuse to drive somewhere. I drive an 04 Nissan Murano, and she calls it my "old mans car." I must say that the few times she has allowed me to drive her loaded HHR 2LT I have been impressed, and thats saying a lot from a guy who hasnt owned an American car in 17 years. I love everything about this car. It handles beautifully, has plenty of pep and gets great gas mileage. I wouldnt hesitate recommending this car to anyone.

  • A nice ride - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

The HHR is very stylish, versatile and fun to drive. Its retro look makes it different than most other cars on the road. The HHR is great on gas and has some good giddyup for a 4 cylinder
