Overview & Reviews
The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.
- Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
- Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

You get what you pay for. - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By rafreddy - July 25 - 10:25 pmThis has been a great vehicle. We have 38k miles on it with no problems. The mileage is great: 32MPG Highway and 25city. The fold down seats are very easy to operate allow for ample storage. We have two kids in car seats and there is plenty of room for them in the back. I am 62" and find it a little difficult to see stop lights under the rear view mirror. This car was not designed for taller people! The window buttons are on the center console down in front of the shifter and a total pain to get to, but as with any vehicle you get used to the controls. As for the fit and finish, we have been very pleased. You get what you pay for in this vehicle.

Good Car - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By Deb - July 22 - 8:17 amI love my HHR! However, been to the dealer several times with rattle. Had steering column replaced two times, dash lights flicker, hub is bad, and radio issues. Dealer sent me home with bad hub, hope safe, he says is safe to drive. Replacing steering column did not help, as it began rattling again after a few weeks. Yes, I agree need better cup holders and window controls on door. Spruce up the interior, other manufacturers know how to do an interior right. We baby boomers love comfort and luxury.

Downside to Chevy HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By tammy - July 13 - 3:06 pmI purchased my car and fell in love with the car. We drove it to Myrtle Beach on vacation and on return I had to invest $450 in new brakes and rotors. The car is only a little over a year old and is already rusting in some places. The Chevy emblem is chipping. I have 40,200 miles on my car and then had to replace wheel bearings. If you are buying the car for gas mileage, this is the car for you! If you are looking for durability- you may want to consider something other than the Chevy HHR.

Wish it was better built - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By John - June 23 - 4:47 pmGreat car. I wish Chevy had put a little bit more Chevy heart and soul. This could have been the best light truck/full sized sedan car ever made. My two biggest complaints are the fact that whenever it rains the car leaks on the floorboard If you own one keep an eye on this. The other thing is the fabric they used for the for the seats. Dont let a drip of water touch, it will stain.

Talk it up! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By stewart savage - June 19 - 10:24 pmI bought my HHR in May `06. I am pleased with the overall reliability and performance of the car so far. We took a trip on mother Day weekend. Leaving metro Detroit, we didn`t refuel until we were in Louisville, Ky. Love It!

Not a winter car! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By ivy12595 - March 25 - 3:47 pmI purchased my HHR in the spring and loved driving it for about 8 months. Then winter came. The windows continuously freeze up. I have to scrape them to get them to roll down even though there is not obvious signs of freezing. The vehicle is in an unheated garage. I have also found the the struts are terrible. Every time I hit a bump, they squeak. With frost heaves in Maine, I squeak all the time.

Hip Hot Ride - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By midnightmike - December 18 - 7:06 pmOkay, heres my story. I own and operate a mobile dj service. I owned a 2002 Chevy Avalanche. Great vehicle, just became too big. Traded it in for a 2004 Mazda 6 Sportwagon. Fast and it handled like it was on rails, and oh yeah very roomy. I saw the HHR and had to have it. Gave the Mazda to my wife and traded in her Protege for the HHR. I have gone from an eight, to a six and now a four?! Believe me this HHR can scoot! I have a black 2LT with every option except OnStar. Leather, moonroof, running boards, spoiler and bright chrome package. Gas mileage is good and has a ton of room for all my equipment. I cannot wait to go cruising with the HHR and my 68 Buick Skylark this summer!

Irritants - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By Peter Charlton (cda) - September 27 - 7:01 pmPick up and ride quality are good. Interior design is adequate, but irritants are a dime a dozen. Wheres the shift selector indicator ? Buzz in the fan at 1? Wind noise at 80 kmh left hand side in mirror ? And on and on. GM engineers missed the boat on the interior ergonomics. Even the Koreans have a much more ergonomic interior. The seats are uncomfortable on long hauls. Steering wheel belongs on an 18 wheeler. No hand grips at 3 passenger doors. No manual control of dash lights. That stupid light sensor should be shot.

Fun - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By Gerlyn - September 15 - 8:03 pmThe appearance caught my attention first. The test drive really sold me. I had driven several small cars in the shopping process, (all I have ever owned were larger cars). The HHR is fun to drive and a fairly comfortable and quiet ride. I would have liked to have a center console with storage. But other than that I really like the car.
