This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

We got the LT1, 2.4, auto, XM radio, moonroof, chrome package, in red about a week ago. When I saw my fiances grin on the test drive (after test driving a PT turbo, by the way), I knew we would get it. After a week and 500 miles, we are in love with our HHR. We look for reasons to drive it (we commute in my company vehicle - darn). The car is a blast to drive, the visibility is great, were both comfortable (Im 6- foot, 240), and I cant believe the storage space for a small car. If you like to blend in, dont get an HHR. If you like to have fun, get good gas mileage, haul stuff (mountain bike, musical equipment, photography equipment, etc.), and turn a few heads, go check this car out.

We have recveived a lot of casual inquiries about this car. The style is creative, the interior is very functional, and overall the car is funto drive. The powertrain is well suited for suburban driving, and provides good gas mileage. This is an excellent choice for someone seeking to downsize their SUV.

I have driven Chevrolet all my life but this is the first brand new Chevrolet I have bought, and Im am very pleased. It is a very comfortable ride and looks awesome! I would recommend this car to anyone who likes Chevrolet. Gas mileage is excellent. Love everything about it. I tell everyone after 51 years I deserve a new car.

Me and my wife love this car. If we had the money we would buy another one just like it. I like the way Im sitting high up with 18 inch rims. Driving the car is so smooth. My wife was scared to drive it at first because shes not used to driving a somewhat big ca,r but on the first drive she loved it, so now we switch between cars

  • Great Overall HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

So far I have really enjoyed my HHR. I have had to get used to not having the power that I had in my previous vehicle but overall it is fun to drive. For a couple of hundred dollars you can change the suspension and gives a much overall better performance with lowering the springs. It has been overall great. We will see how it is for longterm dependability.

I have been very inpressed and delighted with my HHR 1LT. I knew that I had to have it since I first saw one on TV last fall. I had had a 1995 Suburban for the past 10 years and loved it, but the gas mileage and size got to be a problem. The only problem that I will be addressing with the service department is a very loud pop in the speakers sometimes when I start it, and sometimes the remote starter system doesnt work. I feel sure that these can be resolved. The vehicle is everyting I thought it would be.

This car can get almost 600 miles on a tank of gas, I am not kidding you about this. The back seat folds totally flat, its a traditional station wagon. Even with the back seat up there is plenty of room for most trips. The looks? Well, thats a personal choice, but it suits me well. Extremely quiet, it rides on the interstate like my mothers Grand Marquis. Brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.

Chevy gets this one right - cool styling solid road feel & handling with great fit and finish for an American car. Drove 400+ miles to WinterGreen VA area after pickup - up & down the hills nicely, great gas mileage and turned heads all the way.

I have waited on the HHR !! The dealer got this on Tuesday pm, I saw on Wednesday am and the rest is history. Everywhere I went this vehicle drew stares, smiles, and looks of wow! I had people with a lot of smiles and thumbs up. This is an awesome little ride. The 2.2L has plenty of pep on the freeway and great fuel economy. I have only driven 250 miles but it is on the mark at 30 mpg. For the money it is a great value and is loaded with much more than I was expecting. Dont miss this one, it is one of the best retro designs yet.

  • Awesome! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

This is a replacement vehicle for a 2000 Tahoe. Needless to say I was not real sure I wanted to get rid of the Tahoe, as it was also a very awesome rig. Not too great on fuel tho. But this HHR has surpassed all my expectations by leaps and bounds. I am 67 yrs young, Tahoe had purple flames and so naturally, this HHR had to have purple flames also. I love the vehicle. I cant say enough about it. The handling ability is so great and it really gets up and goes. I think it would have beat the Tahoe!! GM has done it again.
