This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

It is a fun car to drive around town or the interstate. I perfer interstate driving. Easy to drive, switching lanes passing another vehicle goes very smoothly. Very east to park not to be of a car, but will hold alot of stuff with the back seat laying flat.

I havent had this car long but from the time that I have had it I believe it will give me years of fun driving. The styling is masterful but the engine could use more umph. The vehicle is well built. Actually put together like a Swiss watch, and it runs like a Timex! I have the 5 speed Getrag manual and I wished that I had the automatic. However this transmission is very good. I would like to add an STS Turbo if I could find one. I would recommend this vehicle to any and everyone.

I do like this car, but after having a Buick, you get kind of spoiled. I realized when I bought it that you get what you pay for. There is nothing wrong with the car, except for the car radio turning on by itself, its just cheaper made. However, I saved money purchasing it also, and it serves my needs just fine. My two big dogs fit in the back seat, and it holds a lot in the back. For a 4 cylinder, it has plenty of power.

A very good car. A little small on the inside, but once you get used to it it is a fun car to drive with good power and mileage. It gets lots of looks and complements

I too had a problem with the Shifter Indent Switch/Key from Ignition problem prior to my warranty running out. I consistantly get 33+ MPG driving both two-lane and freeways. The worst tank was 26 MPG while using the remote start in sub-zero weather. With nearly 40,000 miles in a year, I guess Ill have to drive it into the ground. I would guess my trade-in value is shot!

  • Great Vehicle - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I have owned my HHR for about a year and a half and have been very satisfied with the purchase. The HHR is a car that turns a few heads, carries me through my daily routine, and doesnt burn too much gas while doing so. There are things I like about this vehicle and things I dont.

  • Got me wondering! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I love the look of my HHR. I do have a few issues with it. I have had more visits to the service department (other than routine servicing) with HHR than any other vehicle I have owned. I had the same air condition problem twice, brake problems, raining in the vehicle, starting problems, outside mirrors stopped working, etc. Maybe I just got the bad one out of the bunch. I now worry about what will happen when my warranty ends! I have talked with Chevrolet & the dealership. No one seems to understand my concerns. I had planned to keep this vehicle for a long time. I am now very seriously thinking of trading it off! I bought the vechicle brand new. Never had these many problems with other cars!

  • Just a little unhappy - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I agree with other buyers that the car looks great but it does need better fabric seats! My car has expeienced cant getting the key out the ignition! I not to happy about that because I havnt had the car that long. Overall, I would still stay with Chevy. Going to get a 2009 HHR! I think that one will be much better.

I love my little HHR! Its fun to drive, I get all the looks, and it hasnt given me one problem yet. It gets okay gas mileage and definitely could use more umph in the horsepower but overall Im satisfied with it.

  • Problems Chevy Fixed - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
    By -

My HHR has had a few problems that I see other buyers have so I thought I would share them. The wet floor board when it rains is caused from a defective installation of a deflector shield under the hood. Mine just all the sudden started leaking & when I took it to Chevy they told me it was a recall & mine just fell off the car. Experienced the cant get the car out of park & cant get the key out of the ignition both of these are caused from the electronic key needing to be re-programed. Mine is equipped with the volume feature that automatically turns the radio up and down with road noise.I would be driving at 70 miles an hour & it would turn it down all the down. They fixed it. How?
