This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

Maybe every radically styled new car turns heads, but Ive never been the center of attention the way I am when I drive my Sunburst Orange HHR into town. Young, old, even cops do double takes! I couldnt get out of the dealers lot without being persuaded to give another customer a test ride around a few blocks! I got the LT with the larger 4 cyl. engine and manual 5 speed. What a blast to drive! Mixed in-town/highway milage - 29 mpg for the first quarter tank. I live at 8500 ft elevation. Takes the hills just fine. Seat comfort is exceptional. Interior is very well designed and I just love the XM radio! Side curtain bags, ABS, adjustable belt height; great safety. Homerun, Chevy!

The new 2006 HHR is everything wede hoped for and even more. Outside of the design or arrangement or number of cup holders, we have very little that we are displeased with. The road handling of the vehicle on a whole is terrific, as are the brakes. Chevy has done an outstanding job in the production of the HHR, although it would be nice to have seen the engine produced in USA, we are pleased with the engine. The leg room for both driver, front passenger and rear seem to be adequate. This was a great purchase, having made our decision to down size from a mini-van. The basic standard model allows its owners to personally customize, showing their own personalities, not the Chevy producers!

  • I Love the HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I actually sold my Harley to get this vehicle. I am glad to say we made a good choice with the HHR. For my wife with the kids, she has plenty of room for shopping bags and items in the trunk area. We went with the LS because neither one of us care about power seats or chrome mirrors. As far as the hubcaps, we are looking into getting rims for it anyway, so why spend the extra? Also, on the base stereo, it is fine, good volume, bass, and treble. The 2.2 engine has plenty of pick-up and great gas mileage, averaging 33mpg on the freeway. Usually around 30mpg per tank, if not more, depending on how much stop and go driving we do.

  • A Must Have for the Family - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

We have owned this car for about five months. The build quality is the best of any previous new car that I have owned. No problems as of yet. Would like to see a better center console, and different positioning of the power window switches. Other than that, I wouldnt recommend any other wagon for a small family.

Honda owner for many years. I Just liove my HHR LT. Its fun to drive and comfortable. Great styling and gas mileage. Went on a trip and average mileage was 31.3mpg. Cant beat that at todays gas prices!

We owned an SUV, and with the higher prices of gas we wanted a more economical vehicle. I spotted an HHR and fell in love with its quirky look. We started researching this vehicle and knew it would suit the needs of our family. Our insurance premiums, car payment and gas consumption dropped. What could be better? Ive always owned more normal and boring vehicles so I wanted something spunky. I ordered the blue HHR and customized it with the leather interior, 6 CD changer, and order a 5-speed. It handles beautifully in all types of weather. We have seat warmers (very nice in winter.) The air bag automatically disengages when a smaller person is sitting in the front seat.

  • Style to Spare! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Ive only had this car for a month - but everyday Im so impressed with it. I went from an SUV to the HHR - and it only took a few days to become used to the front wheel drive and lower profile. Its fun to drive - lots of pickup despite the 4 cyl motor. Lots of room on the inside - only complaint is the placement of the armrest - a little out of place. Nice in dash storage, and plenty of room for supplies under the back cover above the spare tire. Stereo booms - and has easy to use controls. I was surprised with all the extras on the LS - power everything - its a lot of car for the money - so very happy - and it just looks hot to drive! Lots of looks and questions!

  • Close to perfect HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Upgraded 2.4L has plenty of power. The 17" wheels give excellent cornering ability. Plenty of cargo space for its size. Slightly disappointed that I only average 28 mpg compared to 33 mpg with my other full size car with a V-6.

  • Wow, Neat Car - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Bought this car July 4th 2006. Bought the LT Summit White(wow it really is BRIGHT)pretty much loaded out. The OnStar is a big deal for the wife and kids and the XM is awesome. The steering is unbelievable, you can almost turn circle in a normal 2 lane road with no problem. Only bad thing is I dont get to drive it, the wife has taken over.
