This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

  • Good American Car - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Serene ride, comfortable driving position is giving the sensation that you are at the command of a solid vehicle. Well equipped, good sound system and lots of electronics controls, temperature, gas autonomy, oil usage, etc. Good gas mileage for the size of the car. Interior temperature warms up fast, Im from Colorado and this is very important here more now that is winter. I did not find the windows controls far from reach, perhaps confusing as you always find them at your door side in other vehicles. Break wise, I did not find my self in a situation that demands strong breakage so far. Lot of cargo space. Easy acces. Generous rear mirrors.

I cannot really say anything bad about this vehicle. It could use some more power on future models, but that would be about it. You know, more get up and go when you have to floor it in Houston area traffic.

I purchased my HHR LT in MD. I drove it from Maryland to Florida, then from Florida to Texas. I am 66 years old, and never felt more safe as I was alone on this trip. It handled with such ease and I could "whip" in and out of traffic when necessary. It handled like a dream on my trip. It really held the road with great accuracy and definition. HHR, where have you been all my life? Youre beautiful and I love you.

I was hesitant to get the new HHR, seeing I was coming from a Mustang convertible. The 4 cylinder worried me. The HHR has great pick up and is really peppy, very cool and fun to drive, has XM radio, sunroof, and great sounding pioneer system stock. I love this car, and 360 miles to a tank of gas, cant go wrong. I highly recommend the Chevy HHR

  • Sporty outside, not so comfy inside - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I really like my HHR. Good for driving around town with the kids, but dont expect to make a major Home Depot run in it. Storage space is pretty limited. Also, these are, without question, just about the most uncomfortable seats Ive ever had in a car (and Ive driven Corvairs and VW Bugs!) Overall though, a good car for tricking out, driving around town, handing down to your kids, etc.

  • HHR one of the best cars I have owned - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

The car is fun to drive and get great gas mileage. And gas mileage is the main reason I purchsed the car to begin with. Now I just love driving the car.

  • HHR Red Hot - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I have looked at the PT cruisers for a long time but I think Chevrolet has one upped Chrysler with HHR. I wanted to get the orange color but it was very scarce almost bought one but hesitated and it sold right after I left dealer. I ended up getting a red one because the 0 percent intrest was the deal clincher. I really like the styling. It is classy , retro, and eye catching on a budget . These cars start out at about 17 grand and get 30 mph on the freeway and look cool . What more needs to be said? Chevrolet has hit a home run.

Plain and simple - I love this car. It is fun to drive and it looks good on the road. The base model comes standard with air, remote start and CD w/ ipod hook-up something the PT Cruiser I test drove did not. I only bring up the PT because that was the car I intended to buy. However, after test driving both cars, it was a simple choice – the HHR.

  • Forgot all about the Matrix - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Its so quiet and smooth, I sometimes forget how fast Im going. After driving it and the 2005 Matrix, there was no comparing the ride. Its also much more comfortable and stylish. It has more room in the front, and a nicely flexible cargo space. I was afraid it would be a lot larger in length, but its only longer by 5 inches. The HHR is the car for me

  • Will buy another HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I have had my Chevrolet HHR for about 5 weeks and absolutely love it. People stop and ask me what kind of vehicle is that, and I say HHR and they say, boy I would love to have one. I will definitely buy another one in 2008 with even more whistles and bells on it. They should put a 6 cylinder in it and dual exhaust.
