This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

  • Great choice - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Ive had my HHR LT2 since July, and its been great. I got the loaded version with every option offered, and Ive been very pleased. It was relatively inexpensive, its comfortable and versatile. Im coming from a Ford Expedition, so it was a bit of an adjustment, but it works. My wife and kids had to warm up to the styling, but I love it. Im over 6 foot and I found both the front and back seats roomy and comfortable. The engine is plenty peppy for a little 4 banger, which provides a much appreciated fuel efficiency. And the leather package is pretty nice. The stereo / CD player sounds great and I love the ipod jack.

We purchase our HHR to replace a Chevy Tahoe. The vechicle has proformed nicely and we enjoy the ride. Only problem we had with our purchase was the floor mats were not with the vehicle and after about 7 weeks we got a set of mats, but they were the wrong ones. Also the drivers mat is not designed properly to protect the carpet.

Fun car to drive. Los of looks from others. Handles great. Nice stereo setup. Great gas mileage. Not much of a center console, but 2nd glove box built into dash is very nice. Purple color is very attractive.

Bad placement of the window switches. You cant put the rear seats down unless you remove the head rest first or put the front seat all the way forward. Then you cant get in the car and drive it. The rear view mirror placement is too low in the windshield creating a large blind spot.

  • HHR - Better than PT Cruiser - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
    By -

I have driven both the 2006 PT Cruiser and the HHR. I am not a Chevy Man by any means. Nor am I a Chryler Man either. I must truly say that the HHR fits my needs and is an all-around better car than the PT Cruiser. The Cruiser seems outdated now. There is hardly any improvements from previous models. Yet, the price keeps climbing. I am over 6 foot tall and I am very comfortable in the HHR. There are more options available on the HHR too. However, In Chrysler defense, I must admit I would like to have a turbo on my HHR. But Im sure theres a supplier working on that as we speak. I really felt cramped in the PT Cruiser in comparison to the HHR. I just think that the HHR is a better deal.

  • HHR Rules Over PT - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Awesome car that I think Chevrolet has outdone themselves on. Much more class than a PT Cruiser plus, its a Chevy for petes sake! More tradition, more quality and a better looking car. Great performance and interior space and styling. Have driven both a PT Cruiser and now own an HHR. Enough said! Go get one for yourself!

I have never been happier with a new vehicle. I cant believe the looks I get just driving around town. Summit White with pinstriping. Chrome package with all the upgrades on the inside. Just plain fun to drive. Economical as well as reliable. My Border Collie loves the back storage area. Shes made it her home when were out and about. Handles with unexpected precision and quickness. Just a joy to drive. Ill never go back to Jeeps again!

  • Fun Car & Great looking too! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I love this car. For those who are short (Im 5 1")I think it is great with the power seats. The smaller windows are great as well, the visor actually works for me in this car than any other car I have ever owned. Storage is wonderful, this is great to hide all those little things you would like to have in the car. The price is right for what you get.

We got the LT1, 2.4, auto, XM radio, moonroof, chrome package, in red about a week ago. When I saw my fiances grin on the test drive (after test driving a PT turbo, by the way), I knew we would get it. After a week and 500 miles, we are in love with our HHR. We look for reasons to drive it (we commute in my company vehicle - darn). The car is a blast to drive, the visibility is great, were both comfortable (Im 6- foot, 240), and I cant believe the storage space for a small car. If you like to blend in, dont get an HHR. If you like to have fun, get good gas mileage, haul stuff (mountain bike, musical equipment, photography equipment, etc.), and turn a few heads, go check this car out.

  • Quality Vehicle - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

We have recveived a lot of casual inquiries about this car. The style is creative, the interior is very functional, and overall the car is funto drive. The powertrain is well suited for suburban driving, and provides good gas mileage. This is an excellent choice for someone seeking to downsize their SUV.
