This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

Touch all the bases, Chevy hit a home run. A feature rich car, fun to drive, not a lot of money, great fuel mileage and you dont look like anything else going down the road. Any negatives, such as the window button location, are nit pickey. This is a first year model and there will be improvements. Hopefully Chevy will listen to the owners and make the necessary changes and improvements.

I have 4,000 miles on my HHR. It is a fun little vehicle to drive. A lot of people check the car out when I have it parked in the public. I guess the novelty hasnt wore off yet. I love the retro styling. I feel I got a lot of car for the buck.

  • Excellent job by GM - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

The best new car I ever purchased. GM has put their best effort into this Chevrolet and it shows! A 1000 mile trip to North Carolina was a pleasure. The XM Radio is a good travelling companion. Excellent mileage about 28.5 per gallon, and plenty of admiring looks from other people on the interstate!

Such a comfortable drive, Ive only had it a few weeks and Ive got no real complaints. The seats are quite comfy, although the headrest adjuster button is difficult to easily get at. I wish the panel between the front seats was higher, it is low for reaching down. The gas guage dial - my other GM cars read from empty (left) to full (right), this car is the opposite, its not a big deal once you know it, it just surprised me a few km into picking it up from the dealer the gas warning light went on and I thought the tank was full, thank goodness I was in the city.

  • Great Car This HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

We find this car to be great. Handles great, tight steering around curves, holds well around curves, little blind spot/s, leather interior, heated seats, great sound sysytem, plenty storage, luggage rack, 2 batteries, easy access to spare tire and just easy to drive. So far the gas mileage is good and so far fun to drive.

This is the first new vehicle that I have bought since my 1987, which I still have. As far as I an concerend, its the best one I have ever bought. Nice firm ride and not to harsh, but feels very stable on the road. Have not had one problem with the vehicle at all. The wife just loves to car and she says its just the right size for her. All body fits are good and the paint finish is flawless. I get just about what the gas rating says. 23 city and 30 highway. It is really a fun car to drive with all the attention getting I expected. Questions from people at the grocery store, gas stations and malls. Would buy another one just for me it I had the money....

I cant believe how smooth a ride this vehicle has. With the folding seats and compartments, it is a very versatile car. Great value for the money, which isnt much. Im using this as a work truck. My whole family loves it, even the teenagers!

  • I love my HHR! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

This car is a blast! I downsized from an Envoy. I have had it less than a month and love the 26mpg versus 17mpg! Gas mileage will get better as we have it longer. Lots of room in the backseat. I like the height adjustments on the drivers seat. I am short and I feel taller than I would in a regular car. I get so many compliments wherever we go in it. I have a baby and can get him in and out of the vehicle easily. You have to drive one to really like it. The steering is great. I had first liked it because of the look and then drove it and thats all it took to buy! My husband is a "truck" person and he loves the HHR. We fight to drive it! Thank you, Chevrolet!

I love it, hauls a load. Quick, fun to drive, handles curves, turns 180s in a tight radius. Great gas mileage, unreal looks and the ability to customize and make it one of a kind is why I bought it. On the highway I can go over 450 miles before fill up, around town over 350 miles. Nice 16 gal tank and hard to get over 14.5 gal in it on a fill up. Very quiet, too easy to go fast and probably one of the best starter family vehicles on the market. I have customized mine and have won 2- 2nd place and 3 first place trophies in 6 car shows.

I love my new HHR 2LT. I have just about all the options available. Ive only been driving it for about 2 weeks at the time of this review. I only have 2 real complaints about the HHR. I do not like the power windows located in the center console. I am not used to them, and they seem awkward. They may be good placement in the winter months, so snow doesnt get in them. The other thing I dont like is the ability to flip one switch to turn on all the car dome lights from the drivers seat. Ive never seen a car without this option. I love the sporty suspension and styling.
