Overview & Reviews
The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.
- Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
- Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

vtm37 - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By vtm37 - March 14 - 9:43 amIt does not have enough horsepower. When moving from a dead stop it feels like you really have to push the gas pedal hard, but is adequate on the highway for passing. The engine has whirring noise when taking off from dead stop that is very noticble. Seat belt hookup with the arm rests down is difficult. Handles very well.

More car for your money - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By kathleen - February 13 - 12:10 pmIve been impressed with the overall quality of our new HHR. We got ours close to fully loaded and it has features youd expect to see only on much more expensive cars. It feels more solid than our Honda Accord and has a smoother, quieter ride too. Its not very fast but I guess thats the trade off for the good gas mileage. Overall Im happy to find an affordable car with good style and lots of cool features that has excellent safety ratings(and side air bags) thats excellent on gas. Chevrolet needs to build more cars like this.

My New HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By David - February 11 - 4:00 amI purchased my HHR April 10, 2006. I have a metallic blue HHR, and I closed my deal online. I had never heard of this car until my salesman suggested I check it out. I love this car! I elected to get the basic LT with cloth seats and the six speaker system. It comes with a CD player, power everything, and theft system. I didnt need leather seats, so this model was fine. I thank all of you guys for helping me make my decision. I check every review, and I was sold. I didnt realize how nice my car was until I walked my dog one day, and turned back and looked at my car. It is beautiful. For those who compare this to a PT Crusier, can you see? The PT Cruiser is a hearse!!

Love at first sight - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By cindyd - February 10 - 6:23 amI had to have one. I love everything about this car. I was pretty surprised when I discovered how quiet it is at highway speeds. It has personality and charm, and is a true joy to own. I have a long daily commute, and this car has made it so much better. I actually enjoy it now, well, as much as you can anyway. The car handles great, and has a really smooth ride. I like the fact that it really seems to fit females. The armrest to steering wheel span for example. I feel out of place in pickup trucks that seem to be built just for men.

Love our HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By TsnPenguins - January 21 - 4:13 pmWe bought our HHR in November after much research of the competition, including the PT Cruiser, Toyota Matrix, Pontiac Vibe. After reading the Edmunds HHR reviews (again), we can only shake our head and wonder why the critics are so hard on this great little vehicle! (The window control buttons are hardly a major issue to harp on). Our HHR is very road worthy, handling is excellent, mileage is 25 mpg in city driving on the 2.4 engine, the ride is incredibly comfortable and we do not miss the gas guzzling Jeep that we traded for the HHR. Dealer experience continues to be excellent. The HHR is nothing but fun to drive. We highly recommend this wonderful vehicle and applaud GM.

My 1st new car and I love it! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By Jose V. - January 7 - 9:16 pmI got this car on June 1st of this year, I saw it in an auto show in FL and I had to get it, I finally did and I am so happy!, I made it part of the family and even gave it a name...Wheelie. I have yet to go on long outings with Wheelie but I will soon, the 3 weeks Wheelie has been with me no has been wonderful. I had people approach me and say what a cute car it is.(Although I say Wheelie is a truck) I am a handicap and Wheelies cargo space is excellent for my wheelchair. by the way, I ordered Wheelie with auto trans., 172 HP engine, and chrome tip, Thats all I need, but a wheelchair lift would be great for me. Overall, Wheelie is a fantastic little vehicle, and I love him dearly.

Love my HHR - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By deacon1 - January 6 - 7:13 pmTurns on a dime. Excellent interior workmanship. Good visibility, good cargo area. No leaks. Great stereo. Have a 4dr LT upgraded HHR with limited color edition. Best seating of any car I have owned, and I have owned foreign and domestic cars. Mid-life crisis dream and great for your ego

My Review - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By Al Martin - January 3 - 2:13 amIt looks good and people ask you a lot of guestions about (mostly} likes and dislikes. One guy said it look like a PT on steroids. Which was a good thing he said. All who have rode in it like the way it rides and its looks and a good sound system. Im getting good gas mileage also, 25 to 28 mpg. All in all Im very pleased with this small vehicle.

Wow - Get one - 2006 Chevrolet HHR
By Ourhhr - November 9 - 3:00 amStop looking any further- youll only be going back to the HHR and may find it was sold. We were shopping at 2 stores and then at some "foreign" places. The HHR is more functional and a better value. The are selling fast- we lost one because we wanted to shop around then had to wait a week for another to come in. We got one with the bigger engine and love it. Peppy, quiet, safe, sturdy, super mileage!
