This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

    Ive had lots of cars and I think this may be my favorite one so far. I got the bright orange metallic and I love it! Interior design, outside appearance, drivability, acceleration. So much fun.

    We tried out the Rave 4 & the PT cruiser. All things considered the HHR has them both beat. Dont pay any attention to the "Pros" reviews, the HHR is not supposed to be a Porsche. Drive one, the thing feels super tight. I love the way the steering feels.

    Very comfortable to drive, hugs the road on curves on dry and wet payevment. Quiet inside. Roomy for a small car. Decent acceleration. Passengers say it is very comfortable in the back seats. Excellent fuel economy 9.2 to 10.1 l/100k in city driving. Colour tone of paint is very good {silver with a hint of tan}

    I came from a Saturn ION to the Chevy HHR and over-all this vehicle feels much more stable and solid than the Saturn did. The seating position is higher than the ION, much like a mini-ute, but the windshield is smaller and somewhat harder to see out of. I thought I would miss the center- mounted gauges in the ION but the HHR has a small gauge cluster that makes up for that.

    We put 2000 miles on our HHR the frist week we had it. It is a great road car to travel in. Comfortable seating up front and a lot of luggage room in back. Solid little car. Lots of miles between gas stations. Cruised the mountains at 75-80 mile per hour without a problem. All in all, a best buy for me. I generally but a new vehicle every two years but think that this one will get out of that rotation. It is a keeper.

    I drive the HHR to and from work every day for a round trip of 48 miles. The HHR is very comfortable and fun to drive. It is very peppy when I step on the gas. The ONLY thing I do not like is that the rear view mirror is in my line of sight. I have to make an effort to look around or under the mirror to see if there is anything I cannot see.

  • HHR for her - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

    My husband bought the HHR for me. I really love the way it drives both in the city and on the highway. We took it on a 500 mile trip and got great gas mileage and rode in comfort. Also enjoyed the people looking as we pass by. It has a very open feel with the rear seat folded down, and is great for hauling things.

  • Excellent Car for the Money - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

    I love the unique styling of the HHR. I am always getting comments about how it looks. The drive and economy is better than I expected, but am grateful because I spend a lot of time behind the wheel. Very spacious for the size.

  • A great car for the bucks! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

    My wife and I just love this car. We are in sales and move a lot of product and it does the job. We love the quality of the car and the looks as well. Ironically, we both never liked the PT Crusier. The gas mileage is on target. It steers great, it turns great, and brakes great as well.

  • Its the greatest! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

    My first Chevy in 12 years and the moment I saw it on the road, I fell in love. Had 1994 Chevrolet SS and it beats that one. It is a head turner and I believe the PT Cruiser is a vehicle of the past, compared to the HHR. The ride, the look, the color (black) with the running boards, sunroof and soon to add fog lamps and roof rack will really set it off. Nice going to the people at GM.
