This Year's Model Updates:

The HHR is an all-new compact wagon based on the Cobalt platform. Its retro styling is a throwback to the '49 Suburban.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, lots of cargo space, attractive interior, excellent visibility, versatile sound system.
Cons:
  • Weak brakes, sloppy handling, engines lack low-end pull and refinement, tight shoulder room, out-of-reach window buttons, some cheap plastics.

We love everything about this car. Its the first Chevy Ive ever owned and it hasnt been a problem. The only things that I wish were different is the location of the window buttons, and the cup holders. After a time you get used to them though and dont give it a second thought. Overall a great car!

Very good gas mileage, nice handling (even in snow). Very high cool factor, lots of complments on the styling. Interior very well laid out(except for window controls). Plenty of head and shoulder room (I,m 6 2"). Very good build quality inside and out. Smooth and quiet ride.

Love to drive this new model which has excellent seating, terrific storage and hauling abilities, and an excellent value package for the money. We like it so much that were paying to add parking assists as we plan to keep it for 5-7 years! We even work for Daimler Chrysler and this Chevy beats the pants off the PT Cruiser!!

Chevy hit a home run on this one! Great fit and finish. 27mpg around town with five speed and the 2.4L 172hp. the extra $20/Mo.for 91oct gas is well worth it. Shell seems best so far!? some engine and exhaust noise for the first five to six hundred miles (break-in) smooth and quiet now. Wish the interior was as retro as the exterior but still nice.I was doing research for another PT cruser on Edmunds and saw the HHR on the comparisons page. Thanks for a great web site! Went for a test drive and put in the order. MY beagle and terrier love it because the rear windows go all the way down! Oh, ya, my wife loves it too. Time to drive the Chevy to the levee

  • Great car! - 2006 Chevrolet HHR

I have owned my HHR for one month. I am amazed with just about every feature of this car. It rides so smooth, handles well and gets fantastic mileage (around 27-32 mpg) overall. It has great power, I got the 2.4 litre motor with automatic transmisson. My HHR is equipped with the 16" wheels, which ride fantastic. I am more concerned with ride over performance. I drive about 20,00 miles a year and cant think of a better vehicle for what I do. The overall build quality of this car amazes me. It feels so solid for such a small car. The paint quality is fantastic and the interior is very tastefully done. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.

I loved this car when I first saw it at one time I got 36miles to the gallon. I just came back from a 700 mile trip and at 70 miles an hour I got 30miles to the gallon. So I cant kick. It handle as nice as any car that I ever owned and I had a few .

I love my new HHR. It rides like a dream. The handling is awesome. My husband drove modifieds for many years and he says the cornering ability of this car is great. It still has plenty of room in it. The design is really classy. Everyone that sees my HHR loves the look, the color, the style. I was pulled over by a police officer one day, not because I was doing anything wrong, he wanted a closer look at my car. The only thing that really took some getting used to was where the buttons were for the windows. It could use maybe one more cupholder too. I love it.

Everyone stops us to ask where we found this beautiful car. They ask all of the usual questions , mileage, etc. We must be in our second teen years because we love this beautiful red car.

Initially I wanted a PT cruiser, those drive ok but the size, price, and comfort is not comparable to that of the HHR. The HHR is a better value, has better handling, has larger storage capacity, and handles in the Buffalo snow like a full size suv with 4WD. I think its the benchmark for all up and coming crossovers. I love it!

"Her Hignesses Ride" is what I call it! I love it, drives like a sports car, works like an SUV, eats like a compact, great gas mileage! Its like a computer on wheels. Love them gadgets and read outs! Love the solid feel, the way it hugs the road. I feel safe and secure in it. Only fault is the center console design, they kinda screwed up the cup holders, but I knew that going into it. If you want to use the cup holder, you might as well forget using the arm rest. But, all the other great features out way that.
