Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Great car - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I love my Equinox! My husband and I are both tall and our children are, for 5 and 7 years old, very tall. The main reason I picked this over the VUE by Saturn is that the leg room in the back seat is excellent. The option to move the seat forward or back has been a great feature to have. I enjoy the ride as well. Other have said that the radio is confusing, but I have not had any issues with that. The only downfall that this vehicle has is the interior fabric. It is way below standard. My seats are so stained it looks like I have had it for years, not months. Even rain stains the seats.

Back on 4/22/2010 another concerned Chevy owner mentioned engine noise and getting louder I am experiencing. I myself own the same model and I have brought this to my dealerships attention and also to Chevy customer relations. My engine is making a constant ticking noise I never owned a car so loud before the engine sounds like its 10 yrs old? Chevy is like "oh well there is nothing we can do about it" its just the way it is? What? This a brand new car. This car should not be making any engine noise its especially loud when accelerating. The dealer said its the fuel pressure regulator and there is nothing they can do? I am deeply disappointed in Chevy gm. Please help

  • Great Ride - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Forget the over priced Toyota or the Edge with all that windshield glare - I am truly happy to own this Chevy Equinox. Love the tinted windows and sunroof. I actually like it better now, than the day I bought it with some reservations - Those reservations are long gone. Zero warranty work needed so far. I like a well built dependable ride.

Dont buy an Equinox! Super unreliable with absolutely little acceleration.

  • Its OK for the price - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The down side is the interior noise level. If I dont play the radio it sounds like Im in a wind tunnel. The door seals are also a bit cheap. I have to wipe inside the door frame after I have the car washed or a heavy rain. Some time you have to slam the door to get it to catch. And, the interior floor is thin. The heal of my shoe has gone through the floor. Also, redesign the headlight assembly. You have to take most of the front end off to change the headlight bulb. But the most shocking is the resale value. I owe $4000 more than what the car is currenty worth.

  • So far so good . . . - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I set out to buy the best available AWD small SUV. I really didnt care where it was built or who made it. I compared Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4 and the new Chevy Equinox. I purchased the Equinox and have no regrets. The Equinox is larger, nicer looking and rated higher in the mileage department. So far I am averaging 25.4 mpg during a typical 40 mile (one way) daily commute on a mix of secondary roads and state highways. With only 1400 miles on the Equinox, I expect the mileage to improve a bit more.

  • Tiny space - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

When we purchased the vehicle we only had one child and with baby #2,there is very little truck space even with the seat at my husbands back. We were very unhappy with the durability of the interior (water left a mark) after the stain treatment. I was told when took it back to shop "what do you think would happen with kids? We are already trading it in.

Got this about 4 weeks ago and have put 1200 miles on it. Pleased with it so far. Very good power although a little bit of a bump when you hit the accelerator and the transmission first engages. Leaps when you ask it to. Chevy interior is basic but at the price still good value. Excellent radio system in the LT model.

This is my first automobile purchase in almost 10 years, and I couldnt have made a better choice! The comfortable seats, cruise control, gas mileage and sound system are spectacular for a travelling long distance runner, such as myself! I do agree that the stereo controls are a little confusing but my teenage son help me to figure that out. I love my Equinox!

I bought my Equinox last week! I love it!! The exterior reminds me a lot of the Lexus SUV; quiet engine and roomy comfort. Cant beat the car for the price. Ive gotten a lot of compliments and am extremely happy with the car.
