Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Love my NOX! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Just picked up my Equinox yesterday, after a ton of research. This is one slick vehicle! It rides great, it looks great, and its a great value. I got an LT with very few options well below sticker price. Im hard pressed to recall seeing a vehicle so roomy!

Had owned a Chev Blazer for six years had no problems with it. Decided to try EQ better ride and perfomance.

Traded a 2002 super charged Grand Prix. Miss the power surge & heads-up display but I love this vehicle. It drives like a car. Wish it would get better mileage, but I sit up higher, love the handling, and really love the drive and design.

  • Great SUV - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

I like feeling that Im in a large SUV without the large SUV gas mileage. The Equinox is a quiet comfortable ride with the rear backup camera and the myLink system.

Wife likes sitting higher to see over other vehicles. Her friends are amazed at the roominess and style. Recently had rubbing/grinding noise develop when braking and turning the vehicle. Noise came from left wheel area/ steering linkage area. Turned out to be a bad shock strut. Dealer diagnosed promptly. However part took 15 days to get from a Midwest supplier. This is 2nd problem fixed under warranty. Drives like new again. Dealer service very good. Friend of my son in law who sells Jeeps was so impressed by the room inside our Equinox he stated "I hope my customers dont find out about this SUV". Taking a 1000 mile trip soon with our EQNX.

  • The Equinox smoked CRV and RAV - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Im an engineer who thoroughly checks out my options and ensures optimum bang for my buck. We wanted the Element for the look and we tried the Element, CRV and RAV4. My wife wasnt really thrilled with either of those three so we drove over to the Chevy dealership. We tried out the Equinox and trust me, it smoked the CRV, Element and RAV in terms of power, comfort, interior look and feel, and price. Exterior is in the eye of the beholder but we really like the look. Stereo is superior, feels like luxury inside with nice control layout. The drive on the highway is nice and quiet and when you step on it (pedal), the engine is relatively quiet compared to the others we tried.

One of the best values in the industry! Not one visit back to dealership for warranty repairs (after 6 months). Tons of room for family of 4. Last two vehicles have been imports, wont go back.As good or better quality with GM, and for thousands less. Friends own a 2005 and 2006 Equinox, neither have had a warranty repair to date. Like this vehicle more now than when I bought it.

  • Top of The Line for SUVs - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

I rented this car first and then when t went to auction with 16,000 miles on it I bought it and its the best driving and handling vehicle ever. Including Toyota and Fords. Ive had both the 4Runner and the Explorer. No comparison. I wish I would have invested in the leather seats though for more comfort. Im just attracted to the leather and feel its easier to maintain.

  • Two weeks with the 2016 Chevy Equinox AWD 6 Cyl. - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox

I test drove the 4 cylinder model and thought it was sluggish especially climbing hills. I opted for the 6 cyl. which has about a 100 more hp than the 4 cyl. model. The power is great now, the car seems more solid and has a quiet and smooth ride. Options I like are the driver convenience package, sun sound & navigation package, rear liftgate power (which gives you the homelink option for opening your garage doors), and the driver confidence package. The premium sound is nice to listen to and the sound is even throughout the vehicle. I especially like the driver visibility and height at which you are sitting while driving. So far I averaged 20 mpg on the first tank of fuel, but I logged quite a bit of time idling in my driveway learning all the features on this suv. Just two added features would be nice on the Equinox and they would be: 1) heat vents for the rear passengers and 2) an audible speed alarm which you can set to go off it you exceed the predetermined speed setting. The ride is so smooth and with the v6 power, you can easily exceed the highway speed limits and not realize it. I added mud flaps, Husky floor mats and door sill protectors to keep the vehicle looking nice for a longer period of time.
