Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Overall a very good vehicle - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

We were forced to purchase a new car after the Jeep dealer ruined our 05 Jeep Liberty. We really did not want to be in the market for a car and yet here we were. We began my search in the beginning of September and wanted to get a year end deal on a 2007 model. After reviewing a number of models, we settled on the Pontiac Torrent. Although, this was the first choice, we gravitated to the Equinox as we could not find a Torrent with the equipment desired. However, if we could have assembled the car ourselves we would have put the Torrent front on the Equinox rear. Since purchased we put on about 4,400 trouble free miles. We have not had to take the car back for any adjustments or correc

  • Good Value, Minor Improvements needed - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

This is my company car so Im in it a lot. It has great looks and value for the price. It is very comfortable and powerful enough. It has been very reliable so far with no major repairs. Only exception is the windshield. I think the angle makes it prone to chipping, or the glass is not good enough. Im on my 3RD one! Overall, this is a good car for the money. Blind spots and big turning radius are the only complaints.

  • Great little SUV - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Easy to drive in any conditions!!! Very comfortable for an average size person. I bought it from a HERTZ Resale lot with 24,000 miles on it and have put on another 39,000 for a total of 63,000 miles. Ive only changed the oil each 5K and put new tires on it at 50K. I keep asking that it be checked thoroughly and my dealer folks say it needs nothing (not even brakes) yet.

So far, I love my Equinox! Its sporty and fun to drive. I can take the grandkids and all their stuff to their sporting events and yet I am comfortable driving it to a high profile meeting.

Equinox has good styling but limited visibility when driving due to back seat headrests. Has long turning ratio, which is not good. Noticable when parking. No glove box light, cannot see in at night. Cowls have more vinyl covering the interior, dash and door panels.

  • A little iffy - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Have had the Equinox for 6 mths. I am very satisfied with the comfort and room in the interior. The only problem, the seats stain really bad when rain gets on them. The exterior is beautiful. Other than the bumpers fading, its great. As far as the vehicle itself, I am very unsatisfied. Been in the shop several times and never found a problem. Have problems starting it sometimes, check engine light comes on almost everyday. I went from a 2000 Protege to this, a brand new car, and would much rather have my old car back, never had any problems.

  • is okay to drive - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Fun, very easy to park, excellent to drive on extreme weather. The only thing that the designer has to improve is the windshield area, when it snows you get a lot of acumulation there, you actually have to stop and clean the snow to continue driving safely.

  • Smart Buy is right! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

A very solid SUV! I have plenty of legroom and headroom in front and back and Im 64. It feels very roomy. Im getting over 21 mpg so far, thanks to the 5 speed automatic, very cool. The engine is fairly quiet, and accelerates the vehicle fine. The ride is comfortable for an SUV, not too soft and not too hard. Steering is different, no way to describe it, nothing bad, just different. Stereo is average, the XM satellite is neat, but i will not renew once the 3 free months are up. Its just not worth the money. I love the compass and temperature display in the rearview mirror. This should be a standard feature in all vehicles. The 17 inch wheels look really sharp. I have had no problems at all so far

  • The Cats Choice! - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Searched Through all the SUV crossover choices. It came down between The Toyota RAV4, Pontiac Torrent, the Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Equinox won! Why? Best warranty, best ride, more power and all that with the best price!

  • A Waste of Engineering - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

We bought three identical ones for our company. So far two of the three have been very unreliable. One had the transmission completely rebuilt under warranty at 15000 and the second rebuilt at 26000. On all three the AWD is a complete joke. If you take off quickly on wet pavement you will spin the front tires for 1 or 2 seconds before the AWD engages. In snow and ice it is a complete joke. Leave it at home and drive something else. The center "console" is a joke as well as the location of the parking brake. It makes you wonder if a freshman design student came up with the plans. Really loud wind noise at speed on the highway that the dealers cannot remove.
