Overview & Reviews
Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.
Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

Unhappy - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By kevin - February 2 - 12:59 pmI bought this almost 2 years ago. Seats stain easy and dont like the noise the AWD makes. Going to need new tires. I have a couple of friends that have this and agree with me.

Over 30,000 miles, Nox still runs Great! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Tombo - February 1 - 12:29 pmI have a loaded 2005 FWD LT, with leather, we bought in January 05. Currently has 33,000 miles. We bought this as a family cruiser and as a universal work horse. Has 3500lb towing capablity. Not many SUVs in this class and price can claim that! Still have the original brakes & tires, which stops smooth. Had no problems, very reliable, handles nice, good performance, nice shifting trans, & great brakes. I also have two boys 7 & 13yrs, that ride in it all the time with my wife. Leather cleans up nice. She loves the Equinox. We had no problems, get advertised fuel economy, looks great, runs great, & still drives nice!

VERY Nice Chevrolet - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
By Christy - January 30 - 11:16 pmI waited for this vehicle to come out because of the new design and gas mileage. After driving for a few weeks I must say I love this vehicle. Do not let the 4 cyl. model scare you, I traded my 6 cyl. and was doubtful, but can really tell no difference in the 4 cly. I am impressed with this American Made Vehicle.

Nice. But what were they thinking - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Kevin Haas - January 29 - 1:50 pmThis has a lot of everything for a smaller SUV. I owned a Ford Escape; very strong vehicle, but the Chevy Equinox has more consistent power and is a very smooth riding vehicle. Outside design is sharp, interior design is modern, very comfortable. The only two complaints I have so far are the location of the parking brake and the center console (very poor design); seems like they ran out of room and just jammed them both together. It becomes a PITA, plus the fabric of the seats are weak - seems like over time they will wear extremely fast.

First Test Drive - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Chevy Owner - January 28 - 10:00 amTook one out for a test drive today. Handling and performance is good. Nice quiet ride and has adequate power for on ramp merges, passing and climbing hills, at least without a load. Im just over 6 tall and found it had plenty of room for the driver and passengers. Hard seats, did I say hard seats, and poor support. No extensions on sun visors. Narrow rear cargo space. Floor not level with seats down.

My Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By bsestone - January 23 - 10:00 amI have only had my car for a month but I really like it so far. It handles a little rough but compared to others I took for a test drive it was the best. I would recommend this car to my friends.

Whatever - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By R - January 22 - 2:26 pmI bought this new and have 55000 miles on it so far. Tires wear out faster on the front than the rear. It bucks the crosswinds a lot. It has a lot of front end noises and rattles going over rough pavement. Dealer says sway bar links could be the problem, Ill try replacing those, but I think its in the steering (knuckle)? Cant do better than 23 miles per gallon on hwy. Small gas tank. Knock on Wood.

Great SUV - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox
By Jessica - January 20 - 8:11 pmMy husband and I decided to get something a little bigger than the 2 door Cobalt that I had, since we travel a good bit. We decided on the Equinox and absoulty love it. We did not need anything extremely big since it is just the two of us, but the room it has is great. This is my first SUV and I will never be able to drive a car again, it drives like a car but is so much higher off the ground. So easy to get in and out.

Worst Chevy out of 3 that Ive owned - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox
By Teresa hardin - January 20 - 1:16 amAfter 2 years the ignition wire had to be replaced. The fuel pump went out in 5 years. 6 months later a fuel solenoid had be replaced. The dash lights fade out for no reason.
