Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • HATE THIS CAR - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This thing is the worst car I have EVER owned. In the shop - ignition sticks from time to time, and the dealer told me to just deal with it - it will start. NEVER again will I buy a GM product - quality and service have been seriously lacking. Had to replace front struts with less than 40000 miles. American companies wonder why we buy foreign - this car is a prime example of why. Even my interior is junk - peeling radio dials and an interior that stains if you drop water on it. I would never recommend to anyone to buy this piece of junk!

  • Gravel and Head Spinning - 2014 Chevrolet Equinox

SOLD - NO LONGER HAVE - REMOVE MY NAME! Specifically asked sales person/manager about the ability of this vehicle to go UP my gravel driveway (sales person was familiar with drive). No problem was the answer. Wrong!!!! I have owned this vehicle for 7 weeks and ave spun out more than 6 times. I have googled many sites trying to find out about how or issues for driving UP but only found info for driving DOWN. Not only driving up the drive but also reversing up slight incline (out of cover). The hill is NOT very steep - and is not straight up, has several flat areas, and several turns. I cannot begin to describe how disappointed I am with this vehicle. I spent over a month researching vehicles and went for over a dozen test drives of different vehicles. I feel like I wasted my time and energy. I will attempt to talk with the manager about trading this for a vehicle that will actually DO what I need it to do. I am returning to dealer because manager and his staff are very good to work with and I have been doing business with them for over 4 years with another vehicle, with wonderful results. My head is spinning trying to figure out how to operate the Infotainment system. And yes, I read the manual specific to the system. All I want to do is listen to my Ipod through the speakers; hooking up to the USB port in center console.

We really like our Equinox. The sliding and recling rear seat is great as well as the adjustable tray in the cargo area. It handles nicely, the steering is particularly nice making driving on tight corners a breeze. We have had a great deal of compliments on the outside appearance which is nice. We have had a couple of different people tell us it resembles the Lexus suv.

Im 6-3 270lbs and getting in and out of this vehicle is easy. V6 gets 20+ on average and 23+ highway. Plenty power and great in snow, I have fwd. also you can get 4 large adults in with no problem, lots of leg room. For the money this is a great vehicle. Also Chevy warranties are great. I’ve always been a Ford man and so far I have no regrets in switching, I think Ford has been lagging the last few years.

We just purchased our New LT FWD Equinox Jan 31, came right off the truck, still with the wrappers. MFG date: 1/05. Equipped with Sunroof and Leather. After 650 miles and about 1 month I am happy to report no problems. I looked it over, top and bottom, and was impressed with the paint, build, fit and finish. It is a nice looking vehicle. My wife loves it. Ive driven it in the rain and snow. Im impressed with the ride, handling, and acceleration. Transmission is smooth and responsive. Wife and I love the vehicle and its universal features.

  • Best crossover out there - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

This is a totally under-rated and ignored crossover. Easily the best vehicle I have ever owned. Versatility unmatched by any other competing small SUV. The Edmunds review of the Equinox is more favorable than most. The highest praise I can give is that very soon our 07 LT will be joined in the garage by an 08 Sport.

  • Not too happy with it - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had my Equinox for about a year and a half. When I first got it. I loved it! Now I cant wait to get rid of it. It just now has 25000 miles on it and it acts like it has over 100000 miles on it. I am taking it in to the dealership for service tomorrow. I have several issues that Chevy need to address. The fuel pump is making a loud "clunking" noise right after it is started. The drivers side window is not sealing porperly. The transmission is making terrible screeching noises and it doesnt like shifting into 3rd gear. Last year, chevy gave me a new set of tires because at 13,000 the tires were shot, but evenly worn. premature wearing. I have had the tires roated 2 times during that time.

  • Awesome Value - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I just picked mine up today. I love the ride it gives! I bought the base model because of my tight budget. $17,888! Nothing else came close. And as for the interior, finally the Americans outdid the imports.

Only way to feel trans shifting is to watch tachometer. Has more get up and go than I figured when I bought the vehicle. The cars paint and finish are great. Used to own Fords, but this baby is hot. Put on fender flaps, a must to keep side panels dry.

  • Great vehicle - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I fell in love with the styling of this car and its versatility. Larger and more powerful than a CRV or a RAV 4, yet smaller and nimbler than the larger SUVs. I originally bought it because I needed to tow a boat, but because I live in DC I didnt want anything too large. I was a little skeptical about Chevy reliability, but this truck has proven to be a trusty sidekick. It pulled my boat with ease. It has good interior space for moving household goods, and the AWD provides peace of mind in bad weather conditions. I can proudly say I love my Equinox.
