Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Thank you, Husband - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

My husband bought me this car after a back injury when my 4-wheel drive truck was too rough for me to drive. I have loved it! The seats are so comfortable, even on long trips. The power rear liftgate was a lifesaver for getting things in and out. And it looks snazzy too. The navigation system and Onstar always made me feel safe traveling alone.

My husband and I purchased our nox in 2006. I have about 29,000 miles. I love the look and style of the truck. It has awesome pick-up and handling. Not poor in the snow but could be better. I had the signal switch burn out after a year and a half. Biggest issue is hesitation with starting. Ive had to give it gas on occassion. My truck is currently being serviced for this problem. Other than that I love my truck and hope the problem is resolved after this being the 5th attempt. OK on gas, I only use Sunoco.

Bought this vehicle about 2 weeks ago, and I really love it. I wasnt really thinking about getting an SUV until I came across a picture of this vehicle on GMs website and instantly liked the exterior design and the price range was affordable so I test drove it and was on my way to becoming a new Nox owner.

I think this new model is stylish and handles really good. Not a bad price.

  • So far so good - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have read the other reviews, and find I share some experiences. The interior paint chips easily, but a dealership employee suggested I use a sharpie to fill in the gaps (thanks). The front tires wore out quickly, but it is a front wheel drive vehicle. The gas mileage is between 20 and 25, no complaints there. I do agree that the windshield is a bad deisgn in snowy conditions. All in all I like the Equinox. The resale value doesnt look that good, so I will be driving this car into the ground. My biggest complaint is that I found out that the motor was made in China. I have always bought American, and I bought the Equinox thinking I was doing just that. I may have bought my last US car

  • Nox Rocks! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Our only complaint is with the turning radius. Its not as tight as youd expect on a car this size. Otherwise the nox is a great ride. Well put together, quiet, and snappy. We frequently travel with four adult occupants and Im 62. Everyone is amazed with the leg room in front and back. Doors are very easy to get in and out. Overall, two thumbs up on this new Chevy!

  • Great value - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

My husband used to sell Chevys and was very impressed with this new model. We chose all-wheel drive, as he was cautious about front wheel drive from previous models. We have had a noise in the front suspension, had it diagnosed by the dealer was told there is a service note for front strut issues with no fix set yet. Concerned about damage to tires and other damage to front end. Only other issue is tilt wheel control and visability with rear seat head rests. Otherwise, the vehicle is great!

  • So far, so good - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

We narrowed our search down to the CR- V and the Equinox. My wife liked the Chevy better, and loves it after about a month. The Equinox was delivered in perfect condition, no squeaks or rattles, everything works, no reason to return to the dealer. So far its getting 20 - 22 mpg on my wifes highway commute and in local driving. My in-laws bought a CR-V about the same time, so it will be interesting to see how the two SUVs compare over the long haul.
