Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Second One of these - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

So far this is my second one of these. The first was an 05 and had some transmission issue, but so far the 06 has not been all that bad, aside from one issue. I am suddenly having issues with fuel economy after almost 40k. Other then that it does pretty well in Michigan winters even without the AWD.

  • Buyer Beware, Mileage is Terrible! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

With gas prices the way they are, I would definitely look at another small SUV. I have not been able to get more than 16 mpg with this thing. If you are looking for economy, this is NOT the car. The salesman used the "Great MPG" as a sales tool...dont fall for it!

Okay, so lets start off by saying I owned a 2002 Dodge Neon before this, yuck! It was my boyfriends he loved it but wanted bigger so I got a hand me down this cars a year old with a little over 13,000 miles on it! I love it drives smooth runs great looks great and is better on gas then my Neon was. My sister owns one and she loves it. My boyfriends co worker has one loves it. If your looking for a spacious reliable SUV this is it! Excellent buy. Its worth every penny I bought it for!

  • Blacky - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I had rented one on vacation and when I decided to trade my Expedition this was one of the trucks that interested me. The Ford Escape did not turn me on. The Ford Edge still doesnt have the style this does in my opinion. So far I really like it, and love the looks. Mine is a black LT AWD with tan leather, snazzy!

  • Highlander vs NOX - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I had 01 Highlander with 200k and needed to replace the engine! I ordered the Nox and compared to the HL the Nox wins in all catigories expect cargo volume. Very quite, smooth, solid vehicle. Seems to ride bigger than it is. Not sure about the mileage yet only have 336kls on it.

  • I hate my Equinox - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Really disappointed that I bought this truck. Traded in my 2003 fully loaded Trailblazer EXT and this is such a step down. GM really went the cheap route in the interior. The Sport version lists for $40k Cdn and there are so many better trucks for that amount of money. The biggest complaint is the ride. From what I can tell the Sport is the worst of them all but it is totally uncomfortable and bounces all over the road. This will be traded quite soon.

  • I love my Equinox - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Well I have only had the car about a week, but it is fun to drive and has great pickup. I have the sport which gives 265 hp or so. I do wish there was a automatic release for the rear hatch by either remote and or inside latch either way would be nice, otherwise I am very happy with it and hopefully will be for a long time.

  • Can I Get It Paid Off Any Faster?! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Owned chevys all my life... What a disappointment! The back doors get dirty, snow, mud, compacted.. The brakes wear very unevenly, and now theres a creaking with every turn... And fuel economy.. Whats that? I fill up about every other day, its disgusting! Theres no such thing as a quiet drive, this thing picks up every bit of noise! Bad, bad, bad idea... Never again.

  • This was the best choice - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I have owned this car since March 2006 and I am thrilled with it. It is spacious, comfortable & smooth riding. The back seat is very roomy and the seats fold down for more storage, which is great.

  • Very Good Vehicle - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

I had to get a new car when my old one got totaled. I knew I wanted a SUV but i didnt know what. I found my car I took it on 2 test drives, and I fell in love with it. I love how high it sits up im short so that makes a big difference. When its time to get another vehice it will definitely be looking for another Equinox. I also like how well priced they are!
